Police Officer Should Be Fired Now!! What Is The Hold Up?

ARTICLE FROM nydailynews.com (Full story click here)

P.S. What in the world is going on folks when a Boston police officer, Justin Barrett calls Prof. Skip Gates “a banana eating jungle money” As far as racism is, you cannot get more racist than this.

Why on earth would this so-called man send out a e-mail like this? Is he that angry at African American people that he would call a very well respected man like Mr. Gates a “Jungle monkey”

How many more Boston policemen think like Barrett? How many police here in Seattle think like Barrett? How many officers in ANY city think like Barrett? This is a problem readers.

He jumps on Larry King with his lawyer and reads a pre-prepared statement and was nervous as hell. Why would he go on King’s show and put on a show? Acting like he is sorry. If he is sorry my name is Bill Gates and I am a billionaire!!

Officer Justin Barrett and all cops like him need to be removed from the streets of America!! You have guys like him working in the African American areas dealing with African Americans. This is wrong folks. Gordon Curvey

KUBE93 & Artists Did Not Care About The Kids At Summer Jam

“One Man’s Opinion” By Gordon Curvey

KUBE93 SUMMER JAM Part 2

This is a follow up to my first story regarding the KUBE93 Summer Jam which was held on July 25th here in the Seattle area.

I watched the Summer Jam online at KUBE’s website. And what I saw and heard was a outrage. What made it different than any hip-hop show you ask? It is because in my strong opinion, parents was at fault and KUBE93 manangement was at fault.

The parents was at fault for allowing their young kids to be there in attendence to hear Ladacris and Akon and other artists rap and sing about sex acts etc.

KUBE93 manangement led by Eric Powers, Shellie Hart, Karen Wild and general manager Michele Groesnick was wrong for not putting a parental advisory on tickets and on there websites.

Again readers, I heard Lada rap about ladies giving “giving him head” and ladies licking him all over and Akon discussing sex and artists using the word “Fuck” and the word NIGGA a thousands times. All this with young kids in the audience.

I should not be the only one speaking out on this. More folks should be outraged. Even, KUBE93 Eddie Fransis joined in and used the word “Fuck” on stage. More than once. A KUBE dj. I have a major problem with that. Again, KUBE management allowed the rappers/singers and one of there dj’s to use this way of speech with kids in the attendence. THIS IS WRONG!!

But all KUBE93 cares about is making money of off black people or people of color. With there management being all white. Even Eric Powers “sidekick” is white “Dirty Harry”. He “tries” to talk slang like cats in the inner city but sorry …….it does not work.

Again Ludacris (pic above with President Obama) has a youth foundation for kids BUT he turns around and raps about ladies “giving him head” etc!!! What is going on readers????

I hope people will read this and think about what I am saying. I am not some older cat whining. I am trying to say KUBE93 is wrong PERIOD. And I will continue to use my voice to speak out until things improve. Gordon Curvey

KUBE 93 Blocks M.I.C-TV’s Coverage Of Summer Jam

“One Man’s Opinion” By Gordon Curvey

As I type this blog, Seattle, Washington based KUBE 93 radio station (www.kube93.com) is having it’s annual Summer Jam at the White River Amphitheater with guests such as Ludacris, Flo Rider, Sean Paul, New Boyz and others.

But for some unknown reason, they have decided to blackball or freeze out Music Inner City TV from coverering the event. This has went on for about six years. The question is why?

They give this “excuse” that they are not allowing media backstage of any type. This is B.S.!! They have acted VERY arrogant towards me and uppity.

Let’s remember that my program covered the Summer Jam from 1992 to 2001 EVERY YEAR with no problems what so ever. So why is it KUBE93 has decided to block my coverage? This is being led by Shellie Hart, Karen Wild and Eric Powers and General Manager Michele Grosnick. All of them happen to be white.

Also keep in mind that KUBE93 has not spent ONE RED CENT with African American owned media in promoting the Summer Jam with mostly people of color on the performing roster. Nothing with Music Inner City TV and nothing with the Facts Newspaper here in Seattle. Other words KUBE93 is laughing all the way to the bank, on the backs of people of color while not giving back.

Truth be told MIC is allowed to cover major industry events. So why does my HOMETOWN RADIO STATION BLOCK ME FROM COVERAGE? I have had problems even obtaining interviews with artists in there hotels.

These are artists whose labels spent $$ with me but somehow I end up with no interviews from KUBE Summer Jam artists.

Also I have e-mailed and called Program Director Eric Powers MANY times about this topic with ZERO calls or e-mails back. The same with Shellie Hart and the general manager. They have just decided to not pay attention to me at all.

Funny thing is when the former Seattle President of the NAACP Carl Mack was here and also my friend Curtis Ellison was here, they would jump and return all of their communications. In our last meetings, general manager Michele Grosnick made promises to us which she has not kept. This is a problem.

Finally, after my terrible fire in 05′ KUBE93 gave me a great sound system for my computer. But sorry to say, things have went way down hill from there and has since 2001.

IF I had millions of dollars like KUBE93 owners Clear Channel, I would have my own Summer Jam. But I don’t have it. So all I have asked is for KUBE93 to allow me to cover the Summer Jam with artist interviews and backstage interviews with people and I have been given the complete cold shoulder. But I see on there web cam on kube93.com people who I say to myself “Why are they backstage”

There actions towards my program is wrong and unfair. The question is why? I would like to get some answers.

P.S It is truly sad that KUBE allows the artists the artists to cuss freely and use the word NIGGA at will WITH PLENTY OF YOUNG KIDS IN THE AUDIENCE!!! This is a outrage.

President Obama Speaks Out On Gates Arrest

ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Full story click here)

P.S. President Barack Obama spoke out about the arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates at his press conference regarding health care.

I am very happy the President said what he said about African American men and Hispanics being stopped by the police.

As a African American man, every time I see the Seattle police, I think I am going to be stopped for something. That is just the way it is.

Professor Gates is one of the most respected African American in America. For him to be arrested trying to enter his own home is unforgivable and tremendously unfair.

Mr. Gates says he now has a story tell more than ever about how African American men are treated by the police and how black men are treated period.

Again, I am glad our President spoke out on the issue. Gordon Curvey

“Black In America” Part 2 On CNN

ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Full story click here)

P.S. Hope everyone will watch Part 2 of “Black In America” on CNN.I know it will be very very informative just like Part 1 was.

I have seen different stories already that will be on the shows. And it was very interesting.

Sorry to say, racism is alive and well in America. Just because we have elected a African American President, please don’t think racism is over because it is not.

I look at the two sports radio stations in Seattle KJR and the new 710ESPN. The total workforce on both of the stations is completely white with no African Americans. How can this happen readers when African Americans and people of color dominate the three major sports in America?

On “Black In America” they will have a story on health care for African Americans compared to whites in America. You will be shocked.

So again I hope everyone will watch “Black In America” on CNN. And learn and be educated. G.C.

Top 50 Highest Earning American Athletes

ARTICLE FROM si.com (Full story click here)

P.S. Not a surprise that Tiger Woods is #1 in earnings, But a surprise is #2. Another golfer, Phil Mickelson. I just do not see many of his commercials on TV. Maybe I am just not paying attention.

#3 is LaBron James. Not a surprise. I think very soon James will be #1 because he is only 24. And if he wins a NBA title he will for sure pass Tiger or be there with Tiger.

Glad to see Kobe moving up the ladder in earnings. But I still think business folks shy away from Bryant because of the court stuff a few years ago.

This is real interesting information. To me baseball guys like Ryan Howard who is young and intelligent should be farther up the earnings chart. Maybe in time he will.

But keep in mind Tiger is just 33 years old. He is still in his prime as a golfer. He has a lot of years to be on top in the golf game. After all look at golf great Arnold Palmer who is still making big $$ in endorsements and he is going on 80 years.

There is not a lot of boxers on the list. I know Floyd Mayweather does a few commercials but where is Oscar or Bernard Hopkins and other boxers? G.C.

Unseen Video Of MJ’s Hair On Fire/Watch It Here

ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Video click here)

P.S. It is VERY VERY STRANGE that all this video and information is coming out about the late Michael Jackson (man it sounds terrible saying the late MJ) has died.

Past friends, unseen video and pics etc is coming out the woodworks!!

There is even a pic from seven years ago of MJ’s leg with needle wounds and a big infection. It looked TERRIBLE folks. Real bad.

It is truly sad to see his hair on fire. People are now saying this is when he started to take drugs if so this is a truly sad story. Sorry to say, you ain’t heard nothing yet. G.C.

Superstar Whitney Houston Ready For Comeback

ARTICLE FROM radaronline.com (Full story click here)

P.S. I am happy as hell to see the return of Whitney to where she belongs. On stage singing her ass off and recording good and soulful songs for us to enjoy.

Houston is one of the greatest singers of all time and has sold millions and millions of cd’s. When you ask younger female singers who are their favorite singers they say Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston most of the time.

Yes, she has had her drug problems but she has tried very very hard to put that problem in the past after her divorce from singer Bobby Brown.

I saw first hand that Whitney is back when I saw her perform at this years Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party in Los Angeles. She was off the hook!!! A GREAT performance. It was a vintage Whitney Houston performance. She got a loud standing ovation. It was great.

So welcome back Whitney. And I can’t wait to hear her new cd. G.C.

MLB All Star Game/Inner City Kids Don’t Care

ARTICLE FROM espn.com (Full story click here)

P.S. Hank Aaron, Reggie Jackson, Willie McCovey, Rod Carew, Doc Ellis, Willie Stargell, Frank Robinson, Lee Maye, Willie Davis, Don Buford and Bobby Bonds. These are African American players I watched playing in the 1971 MLB All Star Game on MLB Network.

Here in 09, there are only a few African Americans playing in this years All Star game. The question is why is this happening? I blame MLB.

The National League starting lineup had ZERO African Americans. The American League ONE.  THIS IS A OUTRAGE!!!

Young African American youth can care less about running home to watch the All Star game. Unlike the NBA All Star Game. They care about that. The NBA All Star Weekend is very popular with young inner city kids who want to watch the dunk contest and three point shoot out and more. They can care less about the home one contest and legends game.

Our Seattle Mariners and Major League Baseball do a terrible job in reaching young African American youth who have turned away from playing baseball in the last 15 to 20 years. The “RBI League” is not enough.

There needs be more outreach. Heck, how many African American players do you see doing TV commercials on national TV like Torii Hunter or Ryan Howard or Carl Crawford?

1971 MLB All Game had eleven African Americans in the game, 2009 hardly any. Why is the question? Major League Baseball needs to realize that baseball is no longer “America’s Past Time” If it is, for who?

LaToya Jackson Says Her Brother Was Murdered

ARTICLE FROM msnbc.msn.com (Full story click here)

P.S. Well LaToya has come out wita h bombshell that her brother Michael Jackson was murdered and she has a name or names.

This is just adding to the total confusion after the death of the “King Of Pop”

10,000 pills taken by MJ, arm full of needle makes, powerful drugs in his house, daddy Joe (former guest on M.I.C-TV) saying this and that and on and one.

All I know is heads are going to roll if the test come out and it shows a drug overdose. How did MJ get the drugs and on and on.

I feel sorry for MJ’s kids. Did they see their dad take drugs? How are they really dealing with the death of their loving daddy?

It will be interesting to see who Latoya names as the person who killed her brother. G.C.

Swim Club Refuses To Let Minority Kids Swim

ARTICLE FROM comcast.net (Full story click here)

P.S. You think just because we have a African American President in Barack Obama, you think that racism is over in America? WRONG!!

The Valley Swim Club refused to let African American and Hispanic kids swim in their pool. I just saw the story on CNN and they interviewed a little African American kid who they refused to let swim and he was crying.

It had me crying to see the little kid cry. All he and his friends wanted to do is go swimming on a hot day and this club would not let them.

This is 2009 not 1954. This story goes to show you that racism is alive and well in America. Just because we have a African American President,,,,,,,,don’t let that fool you folks. This is a truly sad story. G.C

Thoughts On The Michael Jackson Ceremony

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Today we said goodbye to Michael Jackson. One of the greatest entertainers of all time. The ceremony at the Staples Center in L.A was unreal and great.

Musical legends like Motown founder Berry Gordy, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder sang and spoke. As did Jennifer Hudson, Mariah Carey and others.

The program ran very very smooth with only a few days to put every thing together. The crowd was orderly and respectful.

The Jackson Family was all together on the front row. Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Randy all wore a glove like there brother MJ.

Michael’s kids were there too of course. Great to see them really for the first time.

I tried not to cry but I just could not hold back. MJ’s big brother Jermaine’s sang had me crying as did Usher’s song. Usher went over to MJ’s casket while singing “Gone To Soon”

At the end everyone came on stage and sang “We Are Te World” And Marlon Jackson told some stories about himself and MJ and his brothers when they were young. Marlon said “Michael maybe people will leave you alone now”

Rev Sharpton who I have some problems with for not going after Sean Hannity and Fox News over there treatment of President Obama, did a great job and his statements where right on point.

It is strange that I read that the family has still not decided what to do with MJ body. The man needs to be put to rest folks.

Things are going to get real messy in the next few weeks with money issues, the children, MJ’s ex-wife and more including how MJ died. Get ready MJ fans. It is going to be messy.

Lakers Get Artest But Ariza Agrees With The Rockets

ARTICLE FROM latimes.com (full story click here)

p.s Some people in LA think this is a wrong move for the Lakers to sign the free agent. But some folks it is great to sign Artest. One of the best defensive players in the NBA.

A lot of people think Kobe Bryant and Artest don’t get along but I guess that is not the truth. They are good friends.

What I am bothered by is this. Where is the loyality in pro sports. Players just move from team to team for the $$. Few players stay with a team. Kobe has stayed with the Lakers his entire career so far, Derek Jeter has stayed with the Yankees. Ray Lewis has stayed with his team. And a few others.

Also Trevor Ariza left the Lakers for the Rockets. Good luck to him. In my opinion he is another James Posey. A good piece to a team. G.C

Video Of Jackson At Staple Center Hours Before He Died

VIDEO FROM comcast.net (Click here to view)

P.S. It is truly sad that the concert promoters released this video of MJ getting ready for his big tour that was suppose to start in a few weeks in London.

Word is there is going to be a event for MJ on Tuesday at the Staples Center in L.A. Here is the problem. As I write this, rumor is that their will be a $25 charge to get in the event!!!! THIS IS WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!

How can ANYONE try to profit from the death of Jackson?

I hope and pray that the Jackson Family has NOTHING to do with this crap!!!!

In my opinion MJ looked kind of old and VERY thin in the video here on MIC. Did not look good BUT it was STILL “King Of Pop”

We will give you news of this of course right here on “Music Inner City News Magazine” G.C

2009 B.E.T Awards And It’s Tribute To Michael Jackson

ARTICLE FROM bet.com (Full story click here)

P.S. In the article is video from the recent B.E.T Awards at the Shine Auditorium in Los Angeles during the fall out of the death of Michael Jackson.

The red carpet was packed with celebrities and media. It was the place to be. For the first time, I was not there. A long story as to why but I did not make it.

BUT Music Inner City TV will STILL have coverage of the red carpet and and more in the few weeks so look out for that right here on “Music Inner City News Magazine” and of course on “Music Inner City TV” on Comcast On Demand all over Western Washington state 24 hours a day!!

I have saw that some folks were critical of Jamie Foxx pumping up his new tour etc but I think he did a great job. Yes he did talk about his tour a lot but most likely B.E.T agreed with Foxx that would not be a problem.

During the appearance of New Edition, Bobby Brown was there rockin the mic. Other members said, when ever Brown was to join them he is always welcomed. Looked like Bobby has gained a few pounds!!

Overall it was a good show. I know B.E.T had to scramble to put together the show after the terrible passing of MJ. Shout out to Debra Lee and everyone at B.E.T for making it happen. G.C
