Mary J. Blige Opens A Center In Her Name

ARTICLE FROM cnn.co

P.S. A BIG shout out to the “Queen Of Hip-Hop Soul” Mary J. Blige for opening a center in her name in New York called “Mary J. Blige Center For Women”
The center is for helping ladies with counseling and just life problems for which Mary J. had a lot of earlier in her career in the music industry.
Blige had problems with alcohol and drugs as a younger lady but she is proud to say that she no longer drinks or uses drugs. And Mary J. is a tremendous role model for young inner city females who look up to her.
As a African American, I am so proud of Blige. She is a beautiful African American lady who is doing things with her life so she can be a leader for young people and even older folks with the center named after her in NY.
I sure would like to conduct a interview with her on “Music Inner City TV” or even bring her to town to visit a few schools and community centers. Maybe with god’s help it will happen. Keep up the good work Mary!!! Gordon Curvey

Stars Walk The Red Carpet For Jackson’s “This Is It”

P.S. I watched the premiere of the late “King Of Pop” Michael Jackson’s film “This Is It” via Ustream TV on the net and was amazed at all the stars that showed at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Will Smith and his wife Jada, Martin Lawrence, of course the Jackson brothers, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon and Jackie were there and many many other stars. Even a Hollywood legend like Mickey Rooney and his wife was there.
MJ’s brother Tito was their, but he refuses to look at the movie. MJ’s sister Janet and other Jackson family members are not ready to see the movie yet too. They still are mourning his death and they just don’t want to view the movie yet.
“This Is It” is going to break all kinds of records as far as box office sells from all over the world. The movie will show in theaters for only two weeks so if you want to see it, you only have this week and next week to view it. G.C.

Larry Johnson And Bob Griese Are Knuckleheads!!
Posted on 28 October 2009 by curvey in Featured, Sports
“One Man’s Opinion” By Gordon Curvey
In my opinion when you are in the public eye, you have to watch EVERYTHING. That means EVERYTHING in what you say on Twitter or Facebook, that means what you say on ESPN, that means what you you say in post and pre game interviews etc.
I guess NFL running back Larry Johnson and Hall Of Fame QB Bob Griese need to realize this.
Johnson made some stupid comments about gays and about his coaches in Kansas City and Griese made a racist comment over the air about NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya. When someone in the booth asked Bob where was Montuya in a pic that was shown on TV, Bob said “He was out getting a taco” It makes you wonder wh
at else is said around the water cooler.
There seems to be problem after problem with ESPN employees. WHAT IS GOING ON AT ESPN?
Again when you are in the public eye you have to watch out. Bob and Larry have said they are sorry for their comments. But with Johnson he continues to make mistakes. The cat has most likely played his last down in the NFL and it is his mistakes that made it this way.
Even myself as the producer of “Music Inner City” and the editor of this website, I have to watch out when I am in the public eye. And I have to watch what I say also.
I have no sympathy for Larry Johnson or Bob Griese. Both of them are real knuckleheads for their racist comments. They are grown men and should have known better. Again people are watching and listening. Gordon Curvey

Spike Lee Attacks Tyler Perry’s Two TV Programs
Posted on 26 October 2009 by curvey in Featured, Much More
ARTICLE FROM hiphopcss.com (Full story click here)
P.S.
I knew it was a matter of time before director Spike Lee goes after fellow director Tyler Perry and his movies and TV shows. And it has finally happened.
And I have to say I am on Lee’s side. I think Perry’s TV shows are “Amo and Andy” remakes. Full of big eyed, loud mouth “Negro” charectors that to me is a put down of African Americans.
Yes Perry is making millions on his TV show and of course his movies and yes he employs many African Americans in front of the camera and behind it, but on the TV shows, I cannot watch them. I might as well be watching Bill “Bojangles” Robinson or “Amo and Andy”.
Lee makes movies to up lift African Americans and tells us positive stories that makes us think about our history. With Perry’s movies and TV it is the complete opposite.
I hope Tyler will write and produce a TV show or movie that is a complete drama without the baffon acting and jokes. How bout a love story between a black man and lady? Hopefully soon Perry can do that. Until then I totally agree with Spike Lee. You may disagree with me. That’s O.K. Gordon Curvey

Is It Time To Forgive Chris Brown? I Say Yes.
Posted on 22 October 2009 by curvey in Featured, Hip-Hop/R&B
“One Man’s Opinion” By Gordon Curvey
How ya doing everyone. I just saw a piece on “Showbiz Tonight” on Headline News where this motor mouth host was blasting singer Chris Brown like she has time and time again since the Chris Brown and Rihanna problem where Brown beat the hell out of the beautiful sista.
Brown was very very wrong for what he did to her. BIG TIME WRONG!! I know it, you know it, Chris Brown’s parents know it, Rihanna’s parents know it. And friends of both of them know it. What he did to Rihanna was wrong. Period.
But here is the question. Is it time to move on for Chris and us? Is it time for me to forgive Chris and play his music videos on my show “Music Inner City TV?” I have not played any of his videos since the fight.
I say it is time to move on.
Brown did a radio interview on Hot 97 in NY recently and in the interview Brown criticized former guest on M.I.C-TV media icon Oprah for her comments on her show and in interviews regarding Brown saying once a man or in this case Chris, hits you, he will do it again to another lady.
Brown said he is very disappointed in Oprah for not reaching out to him as a older person and offer to talk to him and help him. He went on to say that superstar Will Smith did reach out to him as a older fella and talked to him and offered his help in the future.
I think the female host of “Showbiz Tonight” and others need to back off of young Mr. Brown. And offer support and help. He needs support not people blasting him time and time again for his beating of Rihanna.
I also think it is time for Rihanna to speak out and say some things about her time with Brown. And I have seen some disappointing photos of Rihanna in crazy outfits etc. Not role model like in my opinion.
So readers, Brown is only 20 or 21 years old. Let’s give him another chance. He is a very talented young man. Let’s enjoy the talent of Mr. Brown and Ms. Rihanna again. And say a prayer for Chris Brown that his life has changed after this terrible terrible mistake.

Hip Hop Summit In Houston/Didn’t Happen In Seattle

ARTICLE FRO
M globalgrind.com (Full story click here)
p.s. Russell Simmons Hip Hop Summit recently hit the city of Houston and it was a big success. It has been a big success in every city EXCEPT for here in Seattle for some reason.
I had a chance to ask Simmons (pic below) why didn’t the summit work here in Seattle and he said ask the folks who TRIED to make it happen in here. He sounded real upset on the topic of Seattle.
I do not want to use names here but I know why the Hip-Hop Summit did not happen in Seattle. It is because of hard heads here in Seattle who would refused to listen to advice given to them from “older cats” or OG’s in the game.
They thought they knew EVERY THING. They DID NOT advertise the summit on Music Inner City TV and use other sources to have a good turn out for Russell and his crew when they hit Seattle.
As a rusult, the Hip-Hop Summit has had a great turnout in EVERY city except for here in Seattle. This is the story of this town. Cats think they know every thing. And in reality they know NOTHING!!!
It is one of the reasons why Sir Mix-A-Lot is the ONLY RAPPER TO MAKE IT BIG FROM SEATTLE!!! Don’t get me started on this topic!!! g.c.

Music Inner City Bio: Jay Z

P.S. Today I as I type this, super star Jay Z is hitting Seattle for the first time in ten years at the Key Arena and I am sure it will be a great show.
I am going to miss the show. I have a rule that since I not getting a interview, and I am in the business, I will never pay for a ticket to see a concert since “Music Inner City TV” has been a “billboard” for artists for almost 19 years. So I will read about it in the newspaper or online or from a friend.
But I know the Jay Z show will be great. I have tons of respect for Jay Z as a rapper and businessman who has made millions and millions in the business world.
Other rappers want to “try” to create beefs with Jigga Man because of one big word “JEALOUS”. None of these rappers can touch Jay.
Others want to say he is old because he is about to hit 40 soon. But even his age, cats can’t hold his jock it comes to his music!!! That is real talk. So they need to chill out and shut up when it comes to Jay Z.
Jay Z is the man with a beautiful wife in Beyonce. BIG shout out to Jay Z for giving us great music to listen to and I hope he stays around for years to come. Gordon Curvey

Congrates to a former guest on M.I.C.-TV T.I. for winning two awards at the recent B.E.T. Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta. This event is to recognize artists in the field of hip-hop for the past year. A shout out to another former guest Ice Cube for winning a special award at the event. The program will later this month on B.E.T.
T.I. hopefully has learned his lesson and will continue what he started before he went into jail and that is being a role model for young inner city kids and speak to the youth about staying in school, staying off of drugs and staying out of gangs etc.
He is still young enough to be a major player in the game of hip-hop and also on the big screen. G.C.

President Obama Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Posted on 09 October 2009 by curvey in Politics
ARTICLE FROM reuters.c
om (Full story click here)
P.S. Congratulations to President Barack Obama for winning this years Nobel Peace Prize. It was a surprise but what a surprise.
Instead of praising the President, I am watching clowns like Micheal Steele, the token “leader” of the RNC down playing President Obama, I am watching Sen. McCain down playing the award and others in the media down playing President Obama winning this award. WHAT A SHAME!!!
And you know Fox News with Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck leading the pack, will BLAST President Obama for winning this great award. Saying what has he done to get the award.
Well check this out, it does not matter what McCain or the token Steele thinks. It does not matter what Beck and Hannity thinks!! The Nobel Peace Prize committee thought he should the prize. THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!!!
People need to stop HATING on our President!!! Many in the media and elsewhere refuse to call him President. They just say Barack Obama or Obama. I ALWAYS will call him PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!!!
All this negativity against President Obama is done for one reason and one reason ONLY. It is because he is the first African American President in our history. Pure and simple.
I am not gay or anything, but when ever I see President Obama on TV I start smiling. Because as a African American, I am so proud of him and his wife, the First Lady Michele Obama. He is positive role model for young inner city kids.
That they grow up and be what ever they want to be. They can say “Yes I can” And they can change their lives and other lives. I say a prayer for President Obama and his family to keep him and his family safe. Because they are MANY people and hate groups who want to harm them.
If you support President Obama, please join me in our prayers. Again, congratulations to President Obama for winning the Nobel Peace Prize. Gordon Curvey

Rush Should Not Be Allowed To Own NFL Team
Posted on 07 October 2009 by curvey in Politics
ARTICLE FROM e
spn.com (Full story click here)
P.S. In my strong opinion, extreme right wing host Rush Limbaugh should not be allowed to own the St. Louis Rams of the NFL. This is for sure.
He is a bigot and a racist who is constantly bashing President Obama and many other African Americans and people of color on his very popular radio show.
He does this on a daily basis. Also remember he had a problem with Eagles QB Donavan McNabb. Basically saying he does not have the brain power of other white QB’s in the NFL. It was a TERRIBLE thing for Limbaugh to say about McNabb or any other African American.
But my main issue with him is his treatment of President Obama. He has shown that he almost hates him. And I think it is because Barack is a African American. This is what the African American community believes.
So I hope Rush Limbaugh will just stay on the radio and not be allowed to be a part owner of the St. Louis Rams. I hope the other owners of teams in the NFL will vote to deny him and Dave Checketts, the owner of the St. Louis Blues of the NHL.
Sports fans do not need a owner like Rush owning a NFL team with the views he has about people of color that he shares over the air on his radio show.
He is in the same boat as Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, Bill Cunningham, Micheal Medved, local Seattle radio hosts Dorrie Monson and John Carlson, Laura Ingraham, Ann Coulter and other radio and TV hosts who are blasting President Obama on a daily basis.
Again, the only reason for it in my opinion is because we have a African American in the White House and we have a African American first lady. G.C.

David Letterman In The News Again For Wrong Reason
Posted on 04 October 2009 by curvey in Featured, Much More
ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Full story click
here)
P.S. It seems late night host David Letterman is always in the news for the wrong reason. Heart problems aside, a person trying to get money from him AGAIN and on and on.
The question is why is this happening to Letterman over and over and not other talk show hosts like Jimmy Kimbell or Conan O’Brien or Jay Leno or others. Why is this happening to Letterman all the time?
Why was Letterman having sex with female workers at his place of work? Did he use his “power” to get over on the ladies? Something is just not right.
Yes, the guy who tried to get a couple of mil from Letterman is flat is wrong if that happened. And if guilty should spend years in jail. But why is Letterman always a target?
Even though Letterman is doing much better in the ratings since Leno left the “Tonight” show, I wonder how long will CBS put up with all this negative David Letterman stuff. Let’s see what happens in the future with Letterman and his program on CBS. G.C.

Open Letter From Nas To The Youth Of Chicago
Posted on 01 October 2009 by curvey in Featured, Much More
ARTICLE FROM chicagonow.com (Full story cli
ck here)
P.S. Please read the letter from rapper Nas to the youth in Chicago. You can do so by clicking the above link and you can also watch the terrible video of young Derrion Albert being killed in the streets of Chicago.
It is very very sad that young African American youth are killing each other in a alarming rate in Chicago and even here in Seattle and other metropolitan cities. It is black on black crime.
Young youth are dying. And their is another funeral where parents are crying. This has to stop somehow and some way. Young youth need more after school activities. More things to do other than walking the streets or joining a gang.
It starts at home folks. African American families need to really need to work on their relationships so a kid can know there mother AND father. A kid needs a strong male image in their lives. Many of these kids do not have that and it is sad.
We CANNOT blame all this killing in Chicago on white folks. This is black on black. We as adults have to reach out more to the youth. Care more. Do more. We have to do this. TO MANY YOUNG AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUTH ARE DYING!!! We have to do something. Gordon Curvey
