Well another rapper is going to jail. What’s new folks. Every time you turn around another rapper is going for the lock down, T.I. or Shyne or Kieth Murrey and on and on. And now Weezy is joining the list.

Wayne is going to jail for a year for weapons charges. Cats need to use their brains!! DON’T CARRY UNREGISTERED GUNS IN YOUR TOUR BUS OR CAR ETC!!!

What sports stars and music stars and movie stars need to realize is that they are role models. Young people look up to them rather they like it or not.

It is time for cats like Weezy and T.I. to act like role models and fly right. I don’t like to use my articles to blast brothas and sistas but sometimes I just have to give my opinion on a few issues like this.

Lil Wayne has children who call him daddy. They need him to act like a daddy. And be a daddy. It is kind of hard to do that locked up in jail!!

Let’s hope being locked up will change Wezzy and T.I. and others. Again their fans deserve better. Their children and wives and lady friends and families deserve better. Let’s see how Lil Wayne will change after a year in jail.

Well big news in the world of TV talk shows. First it was the “Queen Of Talk Shows” media icon and former guest on “Music Inner City TV” Oprah Winfrey telling us she is ending her very successful talk show in 2011 and now Tyra Banks drops a bomb on his that she is leaving her show.

She wants to focus in on her production company and more. Well that’s her choice. I happen to like her show because it had topics for the younger generation. A generation that needs to be reached.

She did not have big stars on her show all the time like Oprah and Ellen but she dealt with very good topics like teenage depression and suicide and racism and much more.

Of course Tyra is still young enough to do many things in the entertainment business. I think her show “America’s Next Top Model” will continue. It has been another successful program also.

Tyra wants to be a very successful business lady like Oprah. And you know what? She is on her way to do just that. Just watch.

One thing I have learned about Ms Banks is that she is a determained female and she sets her mind on a project and it will happen.

I think it is GREAT that rapper Young Jeezy is stepped up and gave  back to young inner city kids in Atlanta during Xmas time and gave away gifts for kids and families.

He has set up a foundation to help low income folks in the ATL and out of the ATL. He realizes that he is in a position to help and he putting his money from his foundation to work.

So many times we hear of rappers/hip-hop artists and sports figures who happen to be people of color being in the news for negative reasons all the time i.e Tiger, Tip, Lil Wayne, DMX, Gucci Mane, Plaxico Burris, and many others. But when cats do good things like Jeezy, CeCe Sabathia, Tori Hunter, Mary J. Blige, Ray Lewis etc, it is on the back page or something. This is not right.

It needs to be brought out the good things people of color are doing for people. Young Jeezy does not have to do what he is doing. But he doing it because he wants to. That’s a good thing.

We here at “Music Inner City News Magazine” will do as much as we can to bring out the good things people of color are doing in the inner city.

In the story above, NFL player and future Hall Of Famer Ray Lewis shows he is not just a big and rough NFL linebacker of many years in the NFL. He is showing that he cares about people and wants to do his part to help others in the city of Baltimore.

He takes time from his busy day or night and holds exercise classes and talks to young youth about staying in school and away from gangs and and other positive things. But not only that he talks to older folks too.

He is using his name to reach back and help. It is great to see. When you see the video here on “M.I.C News Magazine” you can see Lewis really really cares about what he is doing. He is passionate about his community work.

To many times when the media talks about Lewis other than his football life, they talk about his past problems with the law. This is very unfair in my opinion.

To many times, when it comes to African Americans and people of color, the media will talk about the NEGATIVE things African Americans do. What about the POSITIVE things like giving out thousands of turkeys at Thanksgiving time, or giving out gifts at Xmas time, or starting a camp during the summer for the kids. Or giving thousands to start a new community center in the inner city.

But let a African American maybe beat up their girlfriend or wife or maybe get caught with drugs or lead a dog fighting ring etc, it is all over the place. This is unfair.

At “Music Inner City News Magazine” we will make a point to feature more positive stories on people of color. Of course we will have to have a story now and then when we criticize a few folks but mostly we will stay positive when it comes to people of color.

A special shout out goes out to Ray Lewis and the positive work he is doing in Baltimore!!

As you can see singer Rihanna has posed half naked on the cover of GQ. Do you have a problem with that? I do and I will tell you why.

Rihanna has millions of young girls who look up to her as a role model. Since the Chris Brown problems, it seems I have seen a lot of pics with Rihanna dressed kind of wild. Almost like a freak sort of speak.

What is she trying to prove? Now some will say Beyonce at times dresses real sexy etc. But in my opinion Beyonce appearances are not as “wild” as Rihanna.

Plus Beyonce has not been in the news for a real negative story concerning a relationship. No drama between her and Jigga Man (for those who don’t know that’s Jay Z)

Rihanna is still a very young lady. Why does she have to be half naked in GQ? What is the point? What is she trying to prove? I don’t get it readers.

I think she needs to tone it down. You don’t see Keri Henson or other young singers posing half naked in pics do you. You can say, Rihanna wants to devolp her own style as a performer. If so that is great. But again, she needs to remember how many young girls look up to her in the “inner city” and out. Just like young fans of country music look up to the young Taylor Swift.

Chris Brown was flat out wrong for what he did to her, but since then you have not seen Brown dressing or acting crazy. We already know that Rihanna is a very beautiful sista, she does not have to dress half naked in GQ to prove it.

Please read the above story by Kansas City writer Jason Whitlock on the Tiger Woods story. One thing for sure the brotha tells what REALLY is on his mind!!

You may agree with him or not. That is up to you folks. I will say this. I am TIRED of these BIMBOS or so called ladies going after Tiger in the media via The Today Show or Showbiz Tonight or Access Hollywood etc.

Some or all of them are getting PAID to talk!!! This is a fact.

Why are these bimbos telling information that should be kept between Tiger and the bimbo? Stuff that should stay in the bedroom. One female has info about “how well endowed Tiger is” and someone even has naked pics of Tiger that I am telling you right now will show up soon in the National Enquirer or one of those sensational tabloids in London. They will pay any price for those pics!!!

Again Tiger is wrong wrong wrong for what he did to his wife. WRONG!! Why did he marry her? It is coming out that he married her to protect his image. And not love. IF that is true Tiger is a TERRIBLE cat.

Having said that, I feel the media is going after Tiger to bring him down in any way they can. And this is wrong. To break down his “perfect” image we all thought of him over the years.

WHY is one of the cable outlets having a show called “The Secret Life Of Tiger Woods” With a few of the bimbos on the show discussing their “so called” relationship with him?

Also WHY does Star Magazine have Tiger and Jessica Simpson on the front cover about a possible relationship??? By the way Simpson is mad as hell.

Finally if Tiger was cheating on his wife with 10-14 African American ladies or ladies of color would the media be after Tiger like they are now? Ummmmmm Something to think about readers.

P.S. It seems my home town team the Seattle Mariners are really trying to have a championship team right here real soon. By the way, we are one of only three teams that have not been to the World Series.

With the signing of Chone Figgins and Cliff Lee with the Mariners it looks like the Mariners management are fed up with being at the bottom every year. Just like the fans.

Figgins is quick athletic player who will add more speed to the Mariner lineup and Lee is one the top pitchers in baseball.

Also as a African American, I am glad the Mariners are starting to bring in African Americans on the Mariners like Bill Hall, bringing back Griffey Jr, Figgins etc. Hopefully it will bring more African Americans fans to Safeco Field to watch the games. And also get more young kids interested in baseball again.

Because it seems young inner city kids turn to basketball and football after little league. They say baseball is boring. Which truth be told, it can be with pitchers taking up to fourty seconds to pitch and with the batters stepping away from the plate to fix there gloves after every pitch (ie Derek Jeter and A-Rod and others). Some games last for four hours for a nine inning game.

I think MLB needs to have a rule where ptichers have to pitch in 20 sec. This will make the game go quicker. And hopefully young inner city youth will get interested in baseball again.

Anyway shout out to the Mariners for the moves they have made so far in the off season.

P.S. Comedian/actress/talk show host Mo’nique was nominated for “Best Supporting Actress” for her role in “Precious” and Gabourey Sidibe was nominated for “Best Actress” by both the Golden Globes and the Critics Choices Awards.

This is great news for Sidibe and Mon’nique AND African American actresses in Hollywood who many feel have not been given good roles to play like other actresses in Hollywood.

This is Sidibe first movie and she gets nominated for a big award. That is off the hook!!! And I am very happy for Mo’nique who is now a “triple threat”. She is for sure doing it big time!! And by the way her nightly talk show is great. It is like a “Arsenio Hall” remake. I watch it every night.

She always has hip-hop and r&b artists on her show as well as people that you do not see on “The Tonight Show” and “David Letterman” and other late night programs. She is allowing them to be seen and heard. This is great!!!

I think it is a bunch of BS that guys in the PGA tour would talk about Tiger Woods to the media in a negative way about his recent problems with his love life!! IT IS WRONG!!!!!

One of them is the dude who introduced Tiger to his wife. He gets before the camera’s and microphone’s and talks about how wrong Tiger is etc. He is suppose to be a friend of Woods. Friends do not do that folks.

And what these clowns have to realize is if it was not for Tiger Woods, the game of golf would not be in the position it is in. Because of Tiger and Tiger ONLY, guys play for enormous payday’s every week. Because of Tiger Woods, golf’s ratings are great.

The only time I watch golf is win Wood’s is near the lead. Which by the way is all the time!! When Woods is near the lead, the ratings for golf is sky high. When he is not, the ratings go down the tubes. This is a fact!!

As I said before in my opinion as a sports fan, I don’t care about Tiger’s love life. He has not broken a law has he? What he has done is being very very unfaithful to his wife and not a good daddy for his children.

I hope the time off that Woods is going to do will be good for his family because I will miss seeing Tiger playing golf. I don’t give a damn about the PGA tour or golf if Tiger is not involved. Believe me I am not the only person who feels this way. And I hope his sponsors will give Tiger another chance in the future.

P.S. The media has been waiting for a story like the current Tiger Wood’s mess, now they have it and they are going hog wild with story after story on Tiger. I think it is very unfair and wrong.

Truth be told I don’t give a damn about Tiger’s love life. I like to see Tiger play golf and win events. Yes, it is wrong for Tiger to cheat on his wife when he has little kids, his love life is HIS BUSINESS!!! I DON’T CARE!!! And you should not care.

I am not a angel, you are not a angel. I am not perfect, you are not perfect. I hope Tiger and his wife will work things out. Yes Tiger can come off as “Mr. Perfect” at times but that’s him. The media is digging and digging for dirt to bring out on Tiger. That sound bite of Tiger’s voicemail to one of the ladies he was dealing with SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN RELEASED IN THE PUBLIC. That was wrong.

Again, I don’t care about Tiger’s private life. I enjoy the greatness that is Tiger Woods. Just like I enjoy the greatness in Kobe Bryant and LaBron James and Brett Farve etc. So all I am waiting for next golf season to see Tiger continue on to be the greatest golfer of all time. P.S. I received a call regarding a protest held on Nov 27th in Los Angeles against radio station Power 106 in the city. So I looked up the story on the net and found it. I was happy to see cats standing up for local airplay.

Snoop and other known artists stood up and spoke out for up and coming west coast artist and L.A. area artists to have local airplay on Power 106. The same thing happened in San Francisco a year or so ago when cats held a protest against S.F. station KMEL.

Shout out to cats in L.A. and S.F. Now it is time for Seattle area folks to stand up against KUBE93. Who plays the same Luda, Weezy, Jay, Flo Rider, Fab etc over and over and over and over. And no local artists. ONLY Mix-A-Lot will get some day time spins. He has not had a hit since “Baby Got Back” in 1991!!! PLUS KUBE does not step foot in the African American community and does not promote events like their Summer Jam in the African American owned media like here at “Music Inner City” and the “The Facts” Newspaper etc.

But local artists and hip-hop leaders here in Seattle are afraid and scared to stand up. They are SLEEP WALKING!!! To much RAIN ON THE BRAIN!!!! It is time to put pressure on KUBE 93 and demand that they play local artists during PRIME TIME.

So called young leaders need to stand up just like they did in L.A. against Power 106 and in S.F. against KMEL. Will it happen? Most likely not. Cats here in town are more worried about the shiny rims on the rides, expensive sneakers, gold chains, smoking bud and chasing the honeys and being “ghetto celebrities”.

They want to run into a basement studio and produce a cd, get a few printed, toss them in their rides, and have a few in the local cd store, make a few flyer’s and mostly it. They do not produce a well made music video to play on my show “Music Inner City TV”

They do not want to spend a few $$ for ads on “M.I.C-TV” Instead they put money in the “majority media’s” pocket. Outside of the African American community. By the way, the local promoters do the same!!! By the way the Asian community and Hispanics DO NOT operate this way.

The artists and promoters here in the Seattle area do things ass backwards. It is time to stand up against KUBE93 and DEMAND PRIME TIME SPINS. It is time to support your local video show that has been on the air for almost two decades and is nationally respected. Get your heads out of the rainy skies of Seattle!!! YOUNG PEOPLE STAND UP!!!!

P.S. As a African American and a resident of Seattle I am glad they caught and killed the cat who killed the four police officers. And I am saying he did it too.

My prayers go out to the families of the fallen police officers. I feel sorry for the children of the officers whose mom or dad is gone right here at holiday time. It is truly sad.

Having said all this, this is a fact that is true and that is there is a tremendous mis-trust against the police by the African American community not just here in Seattle but in most major cities.

We see time and time again police officers walk when they are involved in a killing of a African American here in our area and nationwide. This never leaves certain people’s minds. Heck every time I see a Seattle Police I think they are going to stop me for something every time I am driving. Most African American feel this way.

With five police officers being killed in the last month in our area, and most likely by a African American, it is time for a public meeting so the police can understand the mis-trust African Americans have in the police.

But again that is no reason for people to flat out murder police officers. It is wrong. Pure and simple. And this has to stop and stop NOW. Gordon Curvey
