Music Inner City News Magazine Bio: Lil Wayne

ARTICLE/BIO FROM wikipedia.org (Click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

In a little while Lil Wayne will be heading to jail for weapons charges. He will follow rapper T.I. who also served time for the same thing.

Wayne of course has been making major doe in the last few years. Has made millions of dollars in sales and more on doing concerts and ringtones etc.

But Weezy and other rappers and entertainers and even sports stars need to realize one thing. And that is they are in the public eye and young youth are watching.

Kids want to be the next Weezy or T.I. or Jay Z or Beyonce or Kobe Bryant or Payton Manning. Charles Barkley said he is not a role model. That is not true. He is.

I hope Wayne will come out a new man and change his ways. I will always be here for his music and Cash Money artists like I have from the start in 1999/2000. I just hope Weezy and even T.I. and others will remember that young youth are looking up to them.

Is There A Black Man Shortege Or Are Black Ladies The Problem?

ARTICLE FROM essence.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Is there a problem between African American ladies and African American men in America? Yes. Sorry to say this folks but there is a problem. Just look around.

Not only that look at statistics. Most black kids grow up without a man in the household. The question is why readers. It is a problem when African American kids grow up without a man in the household. No strong male role model.

Why is it that black ladies and black ladies cannot seem to get along as a whole? Is it the man’s fault or ladies fault? This is the question that needs to be answered.

I think a lot of black ladies are hung up on how “cute” a fella is. I checked out “Let’s Talk About Pep” on TV for the last few weeks and I do not like what I saw.

Pep who is a member of the legendary hip-hop group Salt-N-Pepa is looking to find a fella after fours years without one. So she hangs out with her sista freinds that includes NBA star Jason Kidd’s ex-wife.

One show they went out on a “cutie run” seeking only cute guys to kick it with. All Pep’s friends are single black females. Here is the question. Why does the fella have to be cute? How come he can’t be a average looking dude with a great personality? Why does he have to have large money. How come the fella can’t be a fella who treats you like a lady should be treated?

In my opinion (and I know black ladies will not like this) I think African American females are to choosy when it comes to black men. And it is a problem.

There is not a black man shortage. Of course there is a problem with black men and black ladies having sex, the sista gets pregnant, has a child and the child grows up not knowing his dad because the dad is nowhere in sight.

I do not want to put all the problem on black females but I truly believe sistas are too hung up on looks instead of how the fella might treat her. I am TIRED of hearing sistas say “Girl he is soooooo cute” How come the sista can’t say “Girl the man treats me like a lady should be treated”.

And I don’t mean a cat spending all his cash on her. I mean a man and a lady just meeting, talking on the phone, going out on dates and just getting to know each other a REAL BASIS.

I am sorry to say at this moment of my life, I am without a lady I can love. As the late Teddy Pendergrass sang “It feels so good loving somebody, when somebody loves you back” I want to feel this feeling again.

I know I am not the best looking cat, but I will tell you this, my mom taught myself and my brother how to treat a lady. I just want to find a good lady who will love me and I love her back. It is that simple.

Believe me folks. There is not a shortage of black men. The problem is in my opinion is sistas need to get off this “cutie run” stuff and being hung up on how a dude looks. Worry about getting to know the guy. Worry about this guy being your friend and then a lover. And if you have child, worry about if this fella is going to be a good daddy to the child. A role model.

New Orleans Saints Going To The Super Bowl To Play The Colts

ARTICLE FROM nola.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

For the first time in their 43 year history, the New Orleans Saints are going to the Super Bowl after  beating the Vikings 31-28 in New Orleans.

I think this is great for the Saints and great for the city of New Orleans after what they are going though after Hurricane Katrina. They are still recovering after the terrible hurricane.

The Saints won on a 40 yard field goal by Garrett Hartley to win the NFC title game and go on to the Super Bowl in a few weeks in Miami to play Payton Manning and the Colts. The Colts beat the Jets to move on to the Super Bowl.

Brett Farve threw a interception to end the Vikings chances for going to the Super Bowl. One you never do is pass the ball across the field like Farve did. Just like in basketball, you do not pass the ball across the court.

One thing for sure the Vikings would not be in the position they were in without Brett. He had a great season for a 40 year old QB. Maybe one of his best.

I hope the fans of the Vikings realize this and not blast him for that last play. He is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Now we have to wait and see again to find out if he is going to retire again. I think he should. He took a terrible beating in the game.

So now Drew Brees and the Saints move on to the Super Bowl in Miami. Let the hype begin for the next two weeks. Two weeks is to long. They should play the doggone game a week after the title games in my opinion.

Please continue to help the people in Haiti by texting “Haiti 90999″ More than 100,000 people died and more than a million people are homeless in the terrble earthquake. Please help. Please do your part.

I Think Joe Jackson Is Being Treated Wrong By Family

ARTICLE FROM google.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I continue to read stories about Joe Jackson. The father of the Micheal Jackson and the Jackson family. And it is mostly negative stories.

I think this is wrong folks. Why? Because the main point is this. The Jackson 5 would not be around. MJ would not have had the legendary career he had. Janet would not have had the career she has etc if it wasn’t for Joe Jackson!! PERIOD.

Yes the word is he was very very tough on his kids when they were young. But guess what folks? His “tough love” worked. MJ became a multi millionaire, the Jackson 5 will have money in the bank for the rest of their life on earth etc all because of Joe Jackson.

Some say, MJ had the problems he had as a adult because of the “tough love” starting at age 5 from his dad being tough on him as the most talented member of the family. And he did not have a childhood.

This could be true. And if so, this is truly sad because MJ is no longer here with us. But again, because of Joe Jackson their would not be a MJ or Jackson 5 or Janet. So Joe Jackson’s “tough love” really worked if you really look at it.

Beside MJ, none of his kids have been in trouble with the law correct? This is from a family who grew up in Gary, Indiana. A VERY rough city. I call my show and website INNER CITY. Unlike here in Seattle, Gary has a REAL inner city folks!!

Finally in my opinion, I think it is wrong for MJ to have left his dad off of his will. Wrong. MJ had his reasons. I was not their when MJ was being brought up. But MJ needed to realize that his daddy’s training made him the best entertainer in music history. I feel Joe Jackson should get the money he is asking for.

The man is in his 80’s. He does not have to much time left. $15,000 is PEANUTS to the Jackson’s!! That will not take food out of the MJ’s kids tummy. That is crazy. I hope Joe Jackson will be allowed to get the $15,000. This is “One Man’s Opinion”.

Shag’s Dunk Contest For Haiti Turned Down By Star Players!!

ARTICLE FROM nba.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

(Listen to ‘MUSIC INNER CITY RADIO” PODCAST Click “podcast” link above or pic. Starting next program it will be the start of “SPORTS INNER CITY RADIO” Urban sports news and issues/classic soul and new music!! Spread the word!!)

Big Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal had a idea to help the people suffering in Haiti. The idea was to ask superstar players Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter, Dwayne Wade and Lebron James to have a dunk off at the NBA All-Star Game coming up in Dallas.

What a great idea. Half of the money made from tickets etc would go to the victims in earthquake torn Haiti for which they need all the help they can get.

Here is the problem folks. THE PLAYERS SAID NO!!! What a damn shame. Would it kill Kobe and the rest to do this great contest? HELL NO!!!!!!

James has never been in the dunk contest. He said last year he would be in this years contest. Guess that was a lie.

MJ and “The Human Highlight Film” Wilkens where in the dunk contest back in the day. For James and Wade and the rest not to take part in this great idea from Shaq really bothers me.

It would be great for the fans and great ratings on TV. Heck they can make some more Kobe/James commercials from this contest.

These multi-millionaires cannot turn their backs on the fans. They should take up this idea from Shaq. Let’s have this contest!!! Then you wonder why the NBA has a image problem……….ummmm?

Sports Talk Radio Has Problems/Host Says “Coon” Instead Of King

ARTICLE from huffingtonpost.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I was online and I just noticed this story above in the Huffington Post about sports talk host Mike Greenburg of “Mike and Mike In The Morning” on ESPN Radio and the STUPID AND CRAZY “mistake” over the air when he said “Martin Luther Coon” instead of Martin Luther King. HOW IN THE WORLD COULD HE MAKE THIS MISTAKE?

Readers, do you know what the word “coon” means? Let’s but it this way. It is like calling me a “nigga” Pure and simple folks. Maybe Mike had some crack before he went on the air? Who knows. All I know is Greenburg made a major mistake with saying that word over the air about Dr. King.

But here is the thing folks. There is a problem in sports radio. Here in Seattle we have sports radio 710 ESPN and KJR. Together they have a grand total of ZERO African Americans/people of color on the air. Not only that but their is no African American/people of color producers, none in sales and none in management.

This is a problem when African Americans/people of color dominate the three major sports in football/basketball and baseball and even Tiger in golf and Serena and Venus in tennis. Issues of race comes up all the time and when you do not have a African American or person of color over the air, it is a major problem.

KJR and 710 ESPN here in Seattle on air crews act like a “country club” or “Elk’s Club”. They act like friends and buddies instead of workmates. They text each other, call each other etc away from work.

KJR has been on the air for two decades and NEVER had a African American/person of color over the air with his or hers own show. The question is why? 710ESPN here in Seattle is a new station who had a chance to have a African American/person of color over the air but did not. This is wrong.

So with Greenburg saying what he said over the air, I was not surprised. You know why? Because most likely these guys use the word “coon” and the “n” word all the time around the water cooler at work. Greenburg most of forgot he was on the air.

I have been outspoken about KJR for years but nothing has worked. They have blocked out what ever I bring to the table. Management seems not to care. This is truly truly sad. I will always think differently about Mike Greenburg and Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio. I have put them in the same bag as Seattle’s 710ESPN and KJR.

Don’t forget the people of Haiti. They are suffering and need our help badly. Please text “Haiti 90999″ and help. They need water and food and other things to survive. PLEASE HELP!!

Monique Wins A Golden Globe For Supporting Actress

ARTICLE FROM france24.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

As a African American I am very very proud to see that actress/comedian/talk show host Monique won a Golden Globe! It brought a few tears to my eyes for real folks. I am not lying. I was so proud.

Monique is showing the world at the age of 42 how talented she is. I watch her talk show every night on B.E.T. I know her radio show did not last long but her talk is doing well.

She is doing a Arsenio Hall type of show mixed with actors, hip-hop and r&b artists, politicans and much more every night. By the way the show is followed by Wendy Williams and her talk show. Two beautiful and talented black ladies.

Now let’s see if she will win the big one, the Oscar. That would be off the hook u’all!! I think and hope she will win.

I hope African American ladies and males will get more juicy roles in Hollywood. I was real disappointed in watching the Golden Globes pre-shows on E and TV Guide. I like to watch the red carpet stuff.

Why was I disappointed? Because if you watched the shows, you would think African Americans are no shows in Hollywood.

Spike Lee always brings this topic up about Hollywood. Maybe that is why his film about Malcolm X did not win which doggone it, it should have won best picture and best actor should have gone to Denzel Washington.

Anyway congratulations to Monique from “Music Inner City News Magazine”.

Please donate to help the people of Haiti. They are suffering BIG TIME folks. They need our help. Yes many of us are having a very rough time here in the U.S paying our bills etc. I know I am.

But when you watch on TV and see how the folks are suffering it should make you give $1, $2 or $50. Please text “Haiti-90999″ I am sure someone in Haiti lying in the streets or in a park with no shoes or water or food will be very very happy.

Please help the people of Haiti everyone!!

Tiger Woods Donates A Cargo Plane Full Of Needed Help For Haiti

ARTICLE FROM monstersandcritics.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Def Jam Records founder and businessman Russell Simmons reports golfer Tiger Woods has rented a cargo place filled with a portable hospital and food and water and more for the suffering people of Haiti.

Of course we all know that Tiger has not been seen in public for awhile because of his private life situation but again, his private life is his private life as far as his love life is concerned in my opinion.  I just want to see him back on the golf course.

I think what Woods is doing for the people of Haiti is GREAT. Where is the media on this story? Of course Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight and Extra and sports radio most likely will not report this positive story on Woods because they are to busy beating him up.

When it comes to African Americans and people of color, the media will beat up on us. But when it comes to positive stories, they are few and far between.

Tiger also has a school for inner city youth and he has the “Tiger Woods Foundation” also.

The problems in Haiti makes me want to cry like I said in my earlier article. In my next article, I am going to write about programs in Haiti where millions or billions have been spent on Haiti but their has been problems with the money.

Please text “Haiti-90999″ to help the suffering people of Haiti. They need every penny!!!

Red Cross To Help Earthquake Victims/Text 90999 To Donate

ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’ Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I have been watching the terrible terrible scenes from the country of Haiti after the 7.0 earthquake that happened the other day. It is truly truly sad. It brings tears to my eyes to see what is going on there.

Of course Anderson Cooper of CNN is there on the ground and reporting what is going on. Most likely he uses his own cash which he has plenty of but maybe not but one thing for sure Cooper is there when ever a disaster happens.

Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world and they have suffered big time with hurricanes and now a tremendous earthquake. The people can only take so much.

President Obama is leading the U.S. to give all the help we can and former President Clinton is also leading the first because he has done a lot of work for Haiti already. And singer Wycelf John who is Haitian has flown to the country to help out in any way he can.

I am sure he will have a big concert soon to help out the people of Haiti who truly need the help. Just watching the suffering of the people in the streets with nothing really hurts me. I don’t have much money but I am donating $10. My $10 can help someone. It is better than doing nothing.

I am asking you to donate what ever you can folks. text the number above for the Red Cross and donate something to help the people in this very poor country. Yes are having our problems here in the U.S. with our economy, but please send something. $1, $5, $10 or what ever. The people in Hiati need your help. And say a prayer too. I am.

Leslie Frazier: Did The Seahawks Take Him Serious? NO!!

BIO ON LESLIE FRAZIER CLICK HERE

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

BREAKING NEWS: Listen to “Music Inner City Radio” podcast and a short exclusive interview with Floyd Kieth, President of the “Black Coaches Association” just click “podcast” link above”

Today I watched the press conference held by new Seattle Seahawk head coach Pete Carroll and I was under impressed.

The ex-SC head coach did not charge me up. He is a hyper kind of dude and if you are not careful he can fool you. Keep in mind, he is not at Southern Cal anymore. He is back in the NFL where he was 33-31 in his previous work as head coach in the pros.

He says he is a better head coach now after being away from the pros and winning title after title in college football. We will see.

Here is my problem folks. The problem is Leslie Frazier. He is a African American assistant coach with the Vikings. He is well qualified to become a head football coach in the NFL. Read his bio above.

The Seattle Seahawks played a game with Frazier. They used him. The Hawks interviewed him just to satisfy the “Rooney Rule”. The “Rooney Rule” was made to make sure African Americans are interviewed for job openings in the NFL. The Hawks used him as a “token”. There is for sure.

They already had in the pocket the hiring of Pete Carroll as the next head coach of the Hawks to replace Jim Mora Jr. who was fired after only one year. Keep in mind, Mora Jr. was hired without the Hawks doing any kind of interview for a head coach. He was already on the coaching staff of the Hawks.

Frazier had to do the interview or he might be “blackballed” for future interviews with teams. But the bottom line is the Seattle Seahawks did not want Leslie Frazier as the next head coach of the team. He was a token interview and this is a doggone shame.

So let’s see about the general manager of the Hawks which is open. I think their is a African American in the running. I will keep you informed on this right here on “M.I.C News Magazine”.

Story coming up about the uneven treatment of people of color on local sports radio KJR and 710 ESPN. Stay tuned for this. It will be very interesting!!

Race A Issue In China? Lou Jing Is Finding Out It Is

ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” By Gordon Curvey

I was on the computer the other day and found this story about Lou Jing. Jing is a young lady who is living in China. Her father was African American and her mom Chinese.

You can look at her and it shows. She has all the features of a African American young lady. She has not really dealt with racism a lot until now.

She became a finalist in a American Idol type show in China and that opened the doors to folks calling her negative names etc. This is truly sad.

Why did it take her being in this contest for folks to bring out race as a issue? I know it hurts young Jing because she has not really felt a lot of racism in China. Of course she has dealt with a lot, but since being in this contest, it has been more than normal.

I guess racism is alive every where folks. Here is what I wish. I hope the Chinese people will allow her to be a young lady just like other Chinese young ladies.

She loves Beyonce and other American performers. She is getting her education and wants to be somebody. I hope you can find her real father or her real father can find her in China.

That would be GREAT!! Until that time I will say a prayer for Lou and I hope stays a beautiful young lady and fulfills all of her dreams!! Stay strong Lou!!!

Arenas Is Wrong/More Positive Stories Needed On People Of Color

ARTICLE FROM zerotwoherofoundation.org (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Unless you have been under a rock the last few days, you should know that NBA player Gilbert Arenas has been suspended by the NBA for having unloaded guns in his locker at the arena where the Washington Wizards play in Washington D.C. What a STUPID THING TO DO.

Where is and was Gilbert’s brain at when he decided to do that? I cannot and will not make excuses for Arenas. Dude was flat out wrong. Yes NBA and NFL and MLB players are multi-millionaires with big cars and jewerly up the ying yang and yes they are targets.

Look at what happened to former boxing champion Vernon Forrest. He was with his kid at a Atlanta gas station and a cat tried to rob him. Forrest tried to run after him. He lost track of the guy and was shot and killed by the assailant.

There are plenty of other stories like this where guys with money where attacked at there homes or just trying to put gas in there car.

This IS NOT a excuse for Arenas having guns in his locker. Not at all. Again, he broke NBA rules and he has to pay for his actions. But having said that, athletes are targets. This is a fact. So the athletes have to learn better ways to protect themselves.

Finally, the above link is about Gilbert’s foundation he runs. Did you ever here about it? Have you heard about MLB player’s CeCe Sabathia and Chone Figgins and Torii Hunter’s foundations? Did you hear about big Shaq giving away thousands of turkeys at Thanksgiving? Did you hear about Racheed Wallace and his wife giving away thousands of Xmas trees for inner city families? Did you hear about Ron Artest and wife doing the same?

Most likely no. Because the media wants to beat up on people of color all the time with negative stories. Mainly men who are people of color. We are “thugs” and other negative names.

This is why I was among millions who was thrilled to death to see the election of President Obama. A VERY positive story. The first African American President of the United States. Every time I see him on TV I am proud.

I am tired of all the negative stories on people of color on sports radio stations like ESPN 710 and KJR here in Seattle. Two stations who have ZERO African Americans working at the stations in ANY CAPACITY!! None in sales, manangement, producers and over the air. This is a outrage when people of color dominate the sports world.

Yes Arenas was wrong. But I want to see more positive stories on African Americans and people of color here in the American media. One thing for sure, we will bring you the stories as much as we can.

Yes we will put a few folks of color on blast, but it will not be a normal routine here at “Music Inner City News Magazine”

Music Inner City News Magazine Bio: Jamie Foxx

ARTICLE FROM biography.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Singer, actor, comedian, writer? That is Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx. Dude is a very talented fella who is getting a chance to show everyone his talents.

I remember when I brought Foxx to Rainier Community Center here in Seattle in 1995 when he was still a cast member of “Living Color”.

I was suppose to have Foxx show up at the center for the kids but he had to fly back to L.A on business. But he made a promise to come back. And he did!!

It was great fun for the kids. He taped a interview for my TV show “Music Inner City TV” and signed autographs for the kids, played pool and ping-pong with the kids and more. Those kids that was there will never forget that day.

Foxx is taking advantage of everything while he can because in the entertainment industry you can hot one day and a nobody the next.

There are only a hand full of cats who can sell millions of cd’s and make millions doing movies. Might of fact he might be the only one. Can you name another? I can’t. Shout out to Jamie Foxx for showing us the talents behind the mic and in front of the camera.

Seattle Native Nate Robinson Scores 41 For Knicks

ARTICLE FROM nytimes.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Tonight after watching football all day long I needed a basketball fix and thanks goodness a  NBA game was on the tube between the New York Knicks and the Atlanta Hawks. That means it featured two Seattle, Washington residents. Nate Robinson of the Knicks and Jamal Crawford of the Hawks. Two of many NBA players from the Seattle area.

And after sitting on the bench for 14 games, little Nate FINALLY was allowed to play and DID HE PLAY!!! Let me repeat DID HE PLAY!!

He came of the bench midway though the first quarter and began his attack on the Hawks.

Robinson scored from three point land, on drives and dished off to his teammates and even grabbed some boards.

The Hawk crowd was in shock. As a sports fan I was in shock in what I was watching from a cat I watched growing up playing for Rainier Beach High and the Washington Huskies here in Seattle.

Nate ended up with 41 points!! It was unreal readers!! It was one of the greatest displays of a NBA player doing his thing I have ever seen. He wanted to show the NY coaches I am ready to play. Truth be told, I don’t understand why the NY coaches kept him out so long. It was very unfair.

A big Seattle shout out to Nate Robinson. It was a lot of fun watching a guy from my area showing Seattle cats have serious game!!

Soon I will be doing a story on all the Seattle NBA players. The national media just has not caught on to the fact that their are so many players from Seattle in the NBA.
