Myself and Al Moton traveled down to L.A. to cover the event as well as the 2010 Grammy Awards at the Staples Center where we were backstage in the media room for all the activities.

It was great to meet and conduct short interviews with legends such as Smokey Robinson and Carlos Santana who are FOR REAL flat out legends!!

When I attend these events in L.A. I just don’t work on the red carpet I network with others and try to learn new things about the music industry and the entertainment industry as a whole. So I always come home with lots of business cards.

I want to really thank 6pointPros and Al Moton for helping me so I can cover the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy Party and the Grammys. While others told me no for support, they said yes. Again a big shout out to them.

It’s called networking folks!!

Tiger Says He Is Sorry/Now We Wait For His Return To Golf

ARTICLE FROM espn.com (Full story click here)

Today Tiger Woods came back in front of the cameras and the public eye to say he is sorry for his actions about cheating on his wife with numerous affairs.

Tiger said he was sorry to everyone who works for him. Said he was sorry to all the kids who look up to him as a role model and to his Tiger Woods Foundation kids too. He said his work for kids will continue.

Woods asked the press leave his mom and kids alone and stop following them all over the place. He said he was sorry to all the players in the PGA and to all the sponsors who have stood behind him over the years.

He said he thought he could get away from what ever he wanted to. He said he found out that was wrong and said he was sorry to everyone including his mom. His mom sat in the front row and looked worried and upset in my opinion.

He said he will return to golf. When that is we do not know. I hope as a sports fan it is soon rather than later so I can watch him win events again.

What I don’t like is PGA golfers who have greatly benefited from the greatness of Tiger Woods blasting him in the media. I don’t like it at all. It is wrong. One of them is Ernie Els. This cat and all the other golfers who have blasted Tiger need to chill out realize that because of Woods they are earning big time money. Not Arnold Palmer, not Ernie Els or Jack Nicklaus, it is TIGER WOODS.

They need to realize that Tiger Woods is golf. Who in the hell wants to turn on TV and watch Ernie Els or Tom Watson play in a event? I DON’T!!! Do you? Again these golfers need to stop talking about Tiger in a negative way when Woods is the face of the PGA. NOT THEM!!!!

So I hope Tiger Woods will continue to get the help he needs and soon return to the courses of the PGA and win events again. I will not watch one minute of golf until then. I know millions of others will not too. That is why the PGA’s ratings on TV are way way down. It is because of Tiger Woods.

Seattle’s Nate Robinson Wins A Boring Dunk Contest

ARTICLE FROM si.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I just watched the NBA dunk contest during the NBA All-Star weekend on TNT. And I was VERY VERY disappointed in ALL the events and activities so far.

Hopefully the game wiil be better than the stuff I watched today. The 3 point shootout…..boring. Won by the Celtics Paul Pierce. The skills event……..boring. Won by Steve Nash. The D-League game……boring. And finally, the event that everyone looks forward to, the dunk contest……BORING.

It was won for the third time by Seattle’s own Nate Robinson. Sorry to knock my fellow Seattle native little Nate, but none of his dunks were super exciting. And the same goes for the other players in the dunk contest.

Nothing like Nate and Dwight Howard and Nate and Spud Webb etc. I was very very disappointed. As was Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith and Reggie Miller on TNT. The crowd was not excited. The judges were not excited. It was boring folks. Something has to be done to improve the contest.

One of the things that needs to happen is somehow getting King James, or Howard or other superstars who jump sky high to be in the contest. It has to happen.

Shaq had a idea that should have been taken up by the player. And it was a dunk off by Kobe (who was hurt), Howard, James, Vince Carter and Dwayne Wade and money from the tickets sold would go to the suffering people in Haiti. BUT all the players said no. That is a damn shame.

So we were made to watch the first boring dunk contest in years. We did not hear Kenny Smith and Barkley going off after a tremendous dunk. Their needs to be big changes for next year. Are you listening David Stern?

Robinson-Peete Says Mayer Saying He Is Sorry Not Enough

ARTICLE FROM people.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Singer John Mayer has made a wrong career move by saying something in a interview he should not have said and now his name is dirt in many circles.

In a recent interview he used the “N” word when answering a question about if he gets a “pass” by rappers Jay z and others. Read the article above for my details.

Here is the problem folks. Some people get to relaxed and use this word when they should not. And Mayer for sure should not have used that word.

The question is why did he use it? I wonder how many African American friends Mayer has? I wonder if Mayer has spent anytime in the black community?

What made him use the “N” word. What made him so relaxed so he can use that word folks? Now he is saying he is sorry to everyone but actress Holly Robinson-Peete and others ain’t going for it. She feels like myself that he is not sincere.

He needs to go on the air on Rev Al Sharpton’s radio show or on Larry King or Mo’niques talk show on BET and REALLY explain himsef in detail as to why he used that word.

Until then I will not be happy for him using that word. And I join many others who feel the same way.

Please listen to “Music Inner City Radio” podcasts right here!! Entertainment and urban sports news, classic soul/hip-hop, interviews and more. The podcasts are of our radio show on Alternative talk KKNW here in the Seattle area. Just click “podcast” link above.

Involuntary Manslaughter For Murrey? This Is Wrong!

ARTICLE FROM mtv.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

As many of you know, the late Micheal Jackson’s lawyer Conrad Murrey was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of the “King Of Pop” M.J.

I feel just like Jermaine, Tito, Randy, Jackie, LeToya, Mr and Mrs Jackson and that is this charge is wrong. It should be MURDER!! They were all in the courtroom when the charges were announced.

Murrey was wrong for giving Jackson the powerful medicine that helped Jackson. Reports are while Jackson was dying, the cat was somewhere in the house on the phone to his girlfriend!! What the hell!! Why was he on the phone to his girlfriend?????????

Also why did it take so long to call 911? Something is real faulty in the death of Jackson and everything points directly at Conrad Murrey.

He should not have given Jackson the medicine that killed him. He should have said no to MJ. But he did not and now MJ is no longer with us.

I was watching different shows on TV that said involuntary manslaughter is the right charge. In my opinion that is BS! It should be 2nd degree murder.

If convited, Murrey might only spend four years in prison. That ain’t right!!! He says he is broke and cannot pay child support to his kids. Some say he has about seven kids from three or four different females.

Well guess what readers? He sure in the hell came up with $75,000 bail money. Where did that cash come from? Something is not right. Something is wrong.

If you are in the Seattle area listen to “Music Inner City Radio” on Alternative Talk 1150 KKNW. And also online at 1150kknw.com every Friday at 7pm to 8pm (Seattle time). This week show will be on at 10pm or right after a University of Washington ladies game. The show is hosted by Gordon Curvey. New music, sports and entertainment news and exclusive interviews.

And also listen to “Music Inner City Proz” every Saturday at 8pm to 9pm also on KKNW with your host Big Gee. Featuring local music artists.

Who Dat!! The New Orleans Saints Win The Super Bowl!!

ARTICLE from nola.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Tonight I put all the problems of paying bills and editing TV shows etc aside to watch the Super Bowl between the Saints and Colts like millions and millions of others.

And I am as happy as hell that the New Orleans Saints beat the Colts 31-17 in Miami. I am happy that the city of New Orleans can celebrate this great victory after what they have been though in the last five years.

It was like my home town Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl. It was great. It is what sports is all about readers. Sports is a outlet for me. To get away from life problems and enjoy basketball, football and baseball etc. And tonight I realize why I love sports so much because I was so happy to see the Saints win the Super Bowl.

Here is something to think about Seahawks fans reading this. The Seahawks need a running back. The Saints may not want to pay Reggie Bush eight million. So why not the Seahawks picking him up? Because guest what? His ex-coach Pete Carroll is the new head coach of the Hawks. So let’s see what happens on that end.

Anyway I am watching the citizens of New Orleans partying big time in the streets of downtown. They are so damn happy!! They might party until the REAL party starts, the Mardi Gras in less than two weeks.

Congratulations to the New Orleans Saints for winning this years Super Bowl. And congrates to the city of New Orleans.

Folks At “Tea Party Covention” Are A Bunch Of Obama Haters

ARTICLE FROM cnn.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I watched a speech by former Alaska Gov, Sarah Palin and I got real angry. Why you ask? It is because all she is, the conservative movement and the so called “tea party” movement is are a bunch of HATERS against our President Obama.

And in my strong opinion it is all because we have a African American President. PURE AND SIMPLE. It has something to do with the color of his skin.

Here is a question for you readers. Where was the so called tea party, where was the conservatives, where was Sarah Palin when former President George W. Bush ran our country into the ground?

He started a war in Iraq where thousands and thousands of our soldiers have been killed FOR NOTHING in a country we should not be in.

Listen to the angry comments made by the tea party folks. Listen to the angry comments by Palin and Rush and others. I don’t see why Sarah Palin is so doggone popular!!! I just do not understand this AT ALL!! What in the hell has she done??? I just don’t get it.

Fox News led by the bigot Sean Hannity promoted the tea party convention at will on his show. Fox lies and says they have not promoted the convention.

99% of the folks at the tea party convention were non-African American or people of color. Most of the folks in the tea party are non-African Americans or people of color.  Ummm I wonder why that happened folks? Is it because we have a African American President?? I say YES.

But guess what? President Barack Obama is a STRONG man. A very intelligent man. And he will not back down from the tea party movement or the bigots like Sean Hannity and Rush and Micheal Medved and Lura Ingraham and Micheal Levin and Bill Cunningham and Glenn Beck on conservative talk radio and TV.

So let the right wing folks do their thing against our President. Because I know as a supporter of our President, he is doing the best job he can. President George W. Bush messed up our country so bad, our President is still trying to fix the mess he left.

I wish EVERYONE will stand behind him and support him. Of course I am just dreaming. Stay strong President Obama!!!!!!

Sports Inner City Bio: Kobe Bryant

ARTICLE FROM wikipedia.com (Full bio click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

I have learned to respect Los Angeles Laker superstar Kobe Bryant much more than before. This cat is a flat out warrior on the court.

A lot of NBA players sit out games for little injuries. Or even big injuries. But Bryant always says “I am going to run, I am going to lace them up” Bryant hardly misses a game. He is going to play no matter what.

Recently he has played with a messed up finger, a hurt ankle and who knows what else. But again Bryant is going to run when others do not.

Bryant is a true superstar. Yes if you watch Laker games he takes bad shots. And a lot of them. But he makes a lot of those bad shots too.

At times, he has to take bad shots because he passes to one of his teammates and they do not hit their shots. Like Odom, Gasol and others.

Since his well known trouble with the law a few years ago, Kobe has repaired his image big time. He is doing plenty of commercials. I am sure you have seen the Kobe-James puppet commercials for Nike. He is making millions in endorsments.

Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest NBA players of all time. He could be the best.

In the Seattle/ Western Washington area watch “Music Inner City TV” on Comcast On-Demand TV 24/7. Morning noon or night.

Vanity Fair Cover Shows A Big Time Problem In Hollywood

ARTICLE FROM vanityfair.com (Full story click here)

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Take a look at the pic folks. Do you see a problem here? I do. I do not see any ladies of color in this pic of the future of Hollywood.

Why was this pic made and put on the cover with zero African American ladies or ladies of color? Is this the true pic of Hollywood or what?

I see a problem here readers. Did the editors of Vanity Fair think before they printed this magazine with  no ladies of color? I do not think so. This bothers me.

Also check this out. If you watch Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Extra, The Insider, you will see very little stories about African Americans. If you think I am wrong, WATCH TONIGHT. It will back up my what I am saying. Their will be little to zero stories about African Americans on the programs.

What in the world is going on with these programs and what is going on in Hollywood? Are African American ladies (and males) getting the “juicy” parts to play in Hollywood? The answer of course is NO!

Except for former guest on “Music Inner City TV” Queen Latifah, and a few others, African American ladies are not getting headlining roles in Hollywood. This is wrong.

Their are PLENTY of very talented black females that are being shut down by the powers that be in Hollywood. In their place are the ladies you see in the Vanity Fair cover and the ladies you see on the gossip programs every night on TV.

Thank god for Tyler Perry and Spike Lee and John Singleton for putting African American females out front in Hollywood movies.

Yo Vanity Fair, yo Hollywood, this is not the 1954 Hollywood. It is 2010. WAKE UP!!!!

Back Home From The Grammys And Clive Davis Events/L.A.

Well I am back home to rainy (what else) Seattle from the 2010 Clive Davis Pre-Grammy party and 2010 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

Myself and Al Moton covered the event at the Beverly Hilton and the Staples Center in L.A. And I come back home with some great interviews and video for our audience here on “M.I.C News Magazine” and on TV on Comcast On-Demand and SCAN-TV in the Seattle area.

Among the people I interviewed were comic George Lopez, Toni Braxton, Gabrielle Union, Brian McKnight, the legendary Smokey Robinson, MTV’s Sway, the Black Eye Peas Will i Am and even the Mayor of Los Angeles, Antonio Villaraigosa and more!

We were the only Northwest media at both of the events. Did a lot of networking with other media to learn more about they are doing. I learned a lot about what others are doing online and on TV and radio.

More pics and details in the next few days right. Here PLUS LISTEN TO “MUSIC INNER CITY RADIO” podcasts with more details and of course “classic soul and hip-hop” music and much more.
