“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
One thing for sure I am not Mr. Money Bags etc but the man above has allowed me to be here after a devastating fire in 2005 in which I lost EVERY THING to meet and interview a lot of great people and top of line entertainers and more.
Yesterday (March 30th) I interviewed the son of legendary entertainer Stevie Wonder, Muntez Morris. He is a singer who has a new single coming out featuring Snoop Dogg. You will hear the song soon on M.I.C-TV.
And speaking of big Snoop. Today (March 31st) I interviewed in person here in Seattle the mother of Snoop, Evangelist Beverly Broudus Green and Snoop’s aunt Erma “Dena” Varnado. Who also is a gospel singer. (pic to the left is Ms Varnado on the left and Evangelist Green on the right at our M.I.C-TV interview here in Seattle and below a pic of Mr. Morris)
Both of the interviews were very insightful and full of knowledge. The son of a legendary performer and the mother and aunt of another legendary performer.
I have been very lucky over the years to interview James Brown, Muntez’s dad Stevie, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Dionne Warwick, Ernie Isley of the Isley Brothers, Smokey Robinson, Carlos Santana, and even media icon Oprah Wnfrey and many more.
And give a platform for upcoming artists in the Seattle area and nationwide. Thanks everyone for supporting us and god willing we will continue to try to bring you content you cannot find anyway in the Northwest and put it out their for our world wide audience right here on “Music Inner City News Magazine”
The interviews with Snoop’s mom Evangelist Beverly Broudus Green and Snoop’s aunt Erma “Dena” Varnado and Stevie Wonder’s son Muntez Morris will be on “Music Inner City TV” in the next few weeks. Details soon right here!!

Music Inner City News Magazine Bio: First Lady Michelle Obama

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Friday night I was watching Fox News and the “Hannity” program to see what Democrat he was going to beat up on or what negativity he was going to throw down on President Obama.
Then all of a sudden BAM!! He blasts Nickelodeon TV for giving First Lady Michelle Obama a award for the work she is doing. Hannity said the kids station is “leaning toward the left” WHAT!!!!! I could not believe what I was hearing readers. It was a OUTRAGE!!
If Hannity is not beating up on the President, then he will pick his wife to beat up on. Since the President has been in office I do not think Hannity and others on Fox News or even others on the right, have said anything positive about the beautiful and intelligent and outstanding Michelle Obama.
Michelle is a GREAT First Lady and a GREAT role model for young girls and young ladies of ALL COLORS AND RACES. And also she is a wondeful mom to her kids. How cats like Hannity can say ANYTHING negative about her and a award she is getting is BEYOND ME!!!

Local Seattle Sports Radio Did Not Want Romar As Head Coach
Posted on 25 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Sports
I watched the University of Washington Huskies get beat by West Virginia I just though of a flashback of sports radio hosts here in Seattle not wanting Lorenzo Romar.
Few years ago the Huskies were looking for a new head basketball coach here in Seattle. A lot of names were mentioned at the time. One of which was current head basketball coach Lorenzo Romar.
Also mentioned was the head coach at Gonzaga, Mark Few and local high school star and at the time college head coach Quinn Snyder and others.
On local sports radio KJR here in Seattle, talk show hosts Mitch Levy and Dave “Softy” Mahler and Steve Sandmayer got on the radio and demanded the UW DO NOT HIRE ROMAR. They did it over and over and over again over the air.
They said “what has he done” as a head coach etc. Mahler was the most vocal. The day of the press conference at the UW naming Romar as head coach at the UW, Mahler was blasting the head people at the UW for hiring Romar. The Mahler and Levy at KJR wanted a guy like Snyder or Few. No Romar!!!
I went to the press conference to confront Mahler and ask him why is he there covering the press conference and asking questions when he was on the air blasting Romar the SAME MORNING!! I will admit things got a little heated between myself and Mahler. I did not like him being there acting like everything is cool when he and others at KJR did not want Romar as the new head basketball coach at the University of Washington.
Well a few years later, look at the University of Washington basketball program now!! They were in the Sweet 16!! And Romar has helped send players like Brandon Roy and Nate Robinson and Spencer Hawes to the NBA. Even former player Will Conroy has been up and down in the NBA. Lorenzo Romar has put the U-Dub on the NCAA basketball map.
I get kind of upset when I hear Levy and Mahler on KJR kissing his butt now, knowing they DID NOT want Romar as the head coach. I wish I had a recording of the negative stuff Mahler and Levy was saying about the possible hiring of Romar.
Anyway big shout out to Romar, Quincy Pondexter, Isaiah Thomas, Matthew Bryan-Amanings and the rest of the University of Washington Huskies for going all the way to the Sweet 16. You made us Seattle area sports fan happy!
And also watch ESPN “Right Now” for more news and video from NCAA basketball games and the march to the final four.

Young Seattle Fella Next To The President As He Signs Historic Bill
Posted on 23 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Politics
ARTICLE FROM seattletimes.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Today was a great day in American history when President Obama signed a health bill that has been talked about for decades and decades. What a day for America.
At the President’s side as he signed this historic bill was 11 year old Marcelas Owens who is from right here in Seattle, Washington. His mother lost her job, lost her health and I am sorry to say died.
The President had young Owens by his side at two events today regarding the health bill. I know this is something he will never forget the rest of his life.
What bothers the hell out of me is the right. And their racist tactics against President Obama. Calling him negative names etc. I am bothered by the far right “tea party”. Who are making people very very angry at the President to the point I think someone might try to kill President Obama. The far right is just that angry at the President.
NOT ONE Republican voted for the historic health care bill. NOT ONE!! This is crazy, this is a outrage. I am telling you readers. All the folks in the tea party, all the folks who did not vote for this new health care bill are speaking up LOUDLY and in very ANGRY ways because of one thing and one thing ONLY……it is because President Obama is the first African American President in our history and they CANNOT AND WILL NOT DEAL WITH THIS. Period. The far disagree with EVERY THING PRESIDENT IS DOING. EVERY THING!!!
I say a prayer for the President and his wonderful family EVERY NIGHT that they stay safe from the angry mob called the far right. What the far right is doing is VERY VERY DANGEROUS FOLKS. Please realize this. And if your a supporter of our President, please join me and say a prayer for him and his family every night.

Rapper Nas Going Back To Get High School Degree
Posted on 21 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Hip-Hop/R&B
ARTICLE FROM hwheard.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
To many times we hear of negative stories concerning hip-hop and rap artists. To many times we read about rappers going to jail for different reasons like Lil Wayne, T.I and others. But here is a POSITIVE story.
Nas is going back to obtain his high school degree that he did not get when he was younger. This a very positive story.
He is saying to his fans and to youth all over that a high school education and a degree is important. And Nas is saying also that he is a role model and wants young inner city kids to take education serious and to go to school and get a education.
Yes we read stuff about Nas and his wife Kelis who is also a entertainer and their kind of nasty divorce in the news etc, but this story needs to be told too folks!!
As a OG in the music game, Nas is one of my favorite artists. Truth be told, he has not got the recognition he should get. Not to many cats can throw down lyrics like Nas. He tells a story about politics, relationships, life in the “hood” and more. Nas is a true hip-hop king!
Shout out to Nas for saying to kids, “Stay in school and get your education”.

Fox News Host Interrupts President Obama Over & Over In Interview
Posted on 17 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Politics
ARTICLE FROM huffingtonpost.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
I just saw the so-called interview that this so called host on Fox News did with President Obama. I will not use the clowns name in my article.
It was one of the worst things I have seen on TV. This dude interrupted the President over and over and over again in this interview on Fox News. Look up the word disrespect. This is what the so called interview was.
If I was the President, I would have worked out of the room and ended the interview. This was planned by Fox News to try to make the President look bad.
In my opinion, President Obama did not have to go on Fox to pitch his health care plan. That would have been the last place I would have went.
Hannity, O’Reilly and others on Fox News treat President Obama like dirt. They don’t even call him President Obama. They call him ‘this guy” or “that guy” or even just “Obama”. But they will call W. Bush “President”.
And by the way, do you think Fox would have treated treated W. Bush in the manner they treated President Obama? The answer is NO!
Check out how the fella treated the President in the link above.

Tiger Woods To Return To Playing At The Masters In April
Posted on 16 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Sports
ARTICLE FROM pga.com (Full story click here)
Well it is about time. The #1 player in the world of golf Tiger Woods is returning to competition on the course at the 2010 Masters in April.
I know fans are happy, CBS, NBC, ESPN, ABC etc is happy, advertisers are happy.
If you are a golf fan, you are happy that Tiger is returning to play.
With Woods returning, that is more cash for everyone. No matter what you think about the problems of Tiger’s love life, one thing is for sure. He is the best golfer maybe in the history of the game and the game needs Tiger Woods.
Yes certain players on the tour blasted Tiger about his problems. Even a older legend like Tom Watson said some things about Tiger. But I am sure Tiger will make folks forget all that win he starts kicking their butt on the golf course and wins events just like before.
Commercials are running already on CBS about the Masters and the return of Tiger. When Tiger arrives at Augusta, it will be one of the biggest days in the history of sports on TV or TV period besides President Obama taking office.
I will be watching. Like I said before the only time I watch golf is when Tiger is near the lead and maybe John Daly. That’s it.
So welcome back Tiger. The sports world needs you and golf needs you. I hope Tiger learned from his huge mistakes and becomes a better man, a better husband and a better father.

President Obama Donates All Of Nobel Peace Prize Money
Posted on 14 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Much More
ARTICLE FROM cbsnews.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
A big shout out to President Obama for donating all of the $1.4 million prize money from his win of a Nobel Peace Prize to 10 different organizations. This is a great move on the President’s part.
Some folks, mainly people on the right say President Obama should not have received a Nobel Peace Prize and truth be told President Obama was a little shocked but the bottom line is he did get it. So folks need to stop hatin on the President.
People like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham and Glenn Beck and others on the right want to blast President Obama every chance they get on every topic. He cannot do anything right in their eyes. Nothing.
Heck, Fox News does not even shows Presidential press conferences held by President Obama when at the same time, MSNBC and CNN show it. What’s up with that readers? Did they treat former President George W. Bush that way?
Do you think Fox News and others said anything about President Obama donating all his prize money to children and youth organizations etc? No they did not. This is truly truly sad. Again good looking out Prez for you donating your prize money to different organizations. That is a very positive move on your part.

Ochochinco Slams ESPN Host Colin Cowherd On Twitter
Posted on 14 March 2010 by curvey in Sports
ARTICLE FROM huffingtonpost.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
I am happy as
hell that NFL player Chad Ochocinco has fired back at ESPN Radio host Colin Cowherd about Colin’s constant blasting of him on his radio show.
Cowherd seems to think he is a Mr. Know It All when it comes to sports and even life. He comes off as a tremendously arrogant fella who speaks out on folks at will on his program and seems to think guys like Chad will not retaliate. Chad has.
People don’t understand Ochocinco. He is a young fella having fun. He likes to use the technology available like computers etc. He uses Ustream.tv and does his Ustream show when he is on the road via his iphone etc.
He is having fun. I rather have Chad around to read about than baseball players who have personalities of a rock outside on the street. That is way you don’t see any baseball players besides Derek Jeter doing commercials on TV. But you see Chad, Barkley, D-Wade, Dwight Howard, Manning and others with personalities.
Colin does not say you don’t read about Chad doing drugs, clubbing at a nightclub at 2am, beating up his wife atc. He is at home on the computer etc having fun. Now during the off-season he is going to be in “Dancing With The Stars”
I am tired of clowns like Cowherd and even this other motor mouth “JT-The Brick” on Fox Sports Radio who also likes to blast Ochocinco at will in negative ways. Calling him negative names over the air. J.T. and Colin are two peas on a pod. Two motor mouth so called talk show hosts who like to talk about African Americans in negative ways all the time over the air.
J.T. was just on the air giving his opinion as to why African Americans kids are not playing baseball. He does not know what the hell he is talking about unless you walk in our shoes!!!
This just shows once again, about sports radio. Their is a MAJOR PROBLEM in AM sports radio in Seattle and the U.S. The problem is a lack of African Americans in sports radio. It is dominated by white men who know NOTHING about the African American culture or lifestyle. Nothing.
In Seattle, sports radio KJR and 710ESPN have a grand total of ZERO African Americans with his or hers own program. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN AFRICAN AMERICANS DOMINATE THE MAJOR SPORTS IN THE U.S.
Thank god for Stephen A. Smith and Mike Wilborn and the “Two Live Stews” and a few others in sports radio. We need more. At KJR and 710ESPN here in Seattle their is no African Americans as producers, in sales, in management and of course over the air.
This is why I have started “Sports Inner City Online”. A site that has the African American point of view when it comes to sports.

Chris Brown Asks For Radio And Fans Support
Posted on 12 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Hip-Hop/R&B
ARTICLE FROM essence.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Singer Chris Brown is doing something he thought he would never do. And that is to ask for his fans support in buying his new cd and is also asking radio to play his music.
Ever since his problem of beating of singer Rihanna, he has had problems with his career.
It is for sure not like it was before the problems came down on him.
But in reality Brown cannot blame anyone but himself for his problems. He brought them on himself. He should have did what he did to the beautiful Rihanna.
Having said that, the question is this. Is it time for fans to forgive Brown and buy his music? Is it time for radio to start playing his music again? Truth be told I do not even hear any past Chris Brown music on the radio like “Kiss-Kiss-Kiss” and others. Do you?
Brown is doing every thing courts have asked him to do and more. He is even going to schools and community centers to talk to talk to youth etc.
What will it take for radio and fans to support Chris Brown like before the Rihanna incident? It does not help when programs on TV like “The Insider” and “Showbiz Tonight” continue to blast Brown when ever they can.
This story is very very interesting. Let’ see if the negative treatment of Chris Brown will continue. For his sake and career, I hope the negativity stops.

Stern Blasts Gabourey Sidibe About Her Weight
Posted on 09 March 2010 by curvey in Business, Featured
ARTICLE FROM huffingtonpost.com (Full story click here)
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
I CANNOT believe what so called “shock jock” Howard Stern said about Oscar nominee actress Gabourey Sidibe over the air about her size!
Please listen to his STUPID and yes RACIST comments about Ms. Sidibe by clicking the link above. I am real bothered by his comments. And I am bothered by his sidekick Robin saying what she said too! The question is WHY DID HOWARD MAKE THESE COMMENTS AND WHY IS THIS NOT BIGGER THAN WHAT IT IS?
First of all Gab will find work again!!! She is looking over new roles right now Howard!!! And not only that I am sure OPRAH AND SPIKE AND DENZEL AND TYLER PERRY and others will make sure she will have a job acting in a movie!!! What a STUPID thing to say that Gabourey will not find another acting job!!!
It hurts me as African American that Howard would say that about her and hurts me even more that Gab’s African American sista would also make negative comments about Sidibe!!!!
Gabourey seems like such a down to earth young lady with a great personality. Yes she is a large lady. This is true. And hopefully she will shed some pounds for her health. But when she is ready she will. She does not need CLOWNS like Howard and Robin blasting her on national radio!!
And here is a question. What kind of talent does Howard have or Robin have? I think the pitbulls that Shorty trains on “Pit Boss” on TV have more talent than Howard and Robin!!!!!!!!!!! All Robin does is laugh and makes a stupid comment after Howard’s stupid comments!!!! It is beyond me why he makes millions. He is a no talent!!
These comments made by Howard and Robin should make Sidibe work harder and show the fool and crazy Howard that she is going to work and she will continue to be a wonderful actress and a great lady.
What Robin should have said on the radio as a African American female is how proud she was of Gabourey to be nominated for a Oscar and how proud she was of Monique to win a Oscar!!!! Instead of the very negative things said. Those comments make me angry and also very very sad.
What Howard said about Gabourey Sidibe is FLAT OUT WRONG AND TERRIBLE! I hope you readers are as bothered as I am by his comments.

M.I.C. News Magazine Report: Snoop Dogg In Seattle
Posted on 09 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Hip-Hop/R&B
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
This past Friday and Saturday rap legend Snoop Dogg was in the Seatown to perform at the Showbox Sodo. And I want to tell you my feelings as a vet in this music game.
First of all I tried like hell to obtain a one on one interview with Snoop via the phone or in person but again got nothing as far as a interview. The only time I have interviewed Snoop was at the B.E.T. Awards in L.A. a few years ago for a minute.
I will keep trying and maybe the Dogg will finally do a interview with us at Music Inner City TV and Music Inner City News Magazine. I have enough videos by Snoop to do a great program. A “Snoop Dogg Special”
Anyway, the Friday show was sold out. I was told by Snoop’s manangement that I was allowed to cover the Saturday show to write about it here at M.I.C News Magazine.
I got to the venue around 10:45pm because I was told Snoop would hit the stage around 11pm. But I know the game folks. If I was told 11pm, that meant midnight. I was right. The crowd waited for more than a hour before Snoop finally hit the stage. He hit the stage about 12:10am But before that, the crowd started to boo. Then the lights finally went down and the show started.
Snoop’s set started with a short film with Snoop from one of his movies etc. That lasted about a minute or so and then Snoop pimped on stage. The crowd went CRAZY!
By the way, there was people of all races and ages at the show. Even little kids, which I did not understand with all the language being used by Snoop. There was people from 12 to 60 in the crowd.
Snoop started to perform all of his hits from “What’s My Name” from earlier in his career to his recent hits “I Wanna Rock” and “Gangsta Luv” The crowd was jumping and dancing to all of his hits.
One thing for sure, their was plenty of folks in the crowd taping some of the show on their cell phones so most likley you can go to You Tube and see videos from the Seattle show. I was not one of them doing that.
Since I was told no for a interview with Snoop, I went to the show to watch it and review it for the thousands of you who visit our site. I knew I was going to watch a vet at work and that is what I saw.
Snoop along with a few of his homies like Daz and Kurupt put on a show done by vets in the rap game. The same thing happened when I went to shows by Ice Cube and DJ Quik. All three of them can perform hit after hit for their fans unlike young performers who have only a few hits in their bag.
I think everyone left the Showbox satisfied. It was a good performance by a cat who knows what he is doing on stage to satisfy his fans. A big shout out to big Snoop Dogg for his longevity in the music industry. Keep doing what ya doing SD!!

Micheal Jordan New Owner Of The Charlotte Bobcats
Posted on 05 March 2010 by curvey in Featured, Sports
“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
Well former B.E.T owner Bob Johnson finally got tired of owning a basketball team and sold it MJ. The person some people say was the greatest basketball player of all time. I say Magic Johnson though.
Jordan has a very very hard job ahead of him. Will he want to keep Hall of Fame member Larry Brown next season as the head coach? This will be interesting because truth be told the Bobcats have improved this year under Coach Brown.
They have a few pieces in place to have a good team with some added additions. They Have Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson on the team. The question is this how will MJ be as a owner?
Because MJ might have been a great great player but so far as a GM in Washington and with Bobcats in another position, he has not done a good job. Let’s just tell the truth folks. (yours truly Gordon C. with MJ pic to the right)
One thing for sure it is great that MJ is involved in the NBA in anyway because he is a basketball icon. A sports icon. A flat out legend. I know David Stern is happy to have him around too.
Will he be a owner like Mark Cuban of the Mavericks? Who is at EVERY game sitting right behind the bench of his team? Who knows we will see.
Everyone will be watching Jordan to see what he can do to make the Bobcats a team that can make the playoffs in the future and draw some fans to the arena because when you see a Bobcat game on TV, you will notice a whole lot of empty seats.
So let’s see what the REAL KING (not James) can do as the new owner of the Bobcats in Charlotte.
