I have had conversations recently about the state of urban music today with a few friends and it was very interesting to hear other people’s opinion on the state of urban music today. I have my strong opinions.
Then I turn on “The Arsenio Hall Show” and saw a performer who has stood the test of time and marches to his own beat and for years has made his own style and does his own thing in the tough music business and his name is Prince. Prince has his own built in fans who follow him and his music for years and years since he arrived on the music scene in the late 80′s. He is one of a kind.
Prince is not a fan of the internet and that is a fact. He feels people are downloading music and many times artists are not getting paid what they should be paid. He made that point on Arsenio’s program. Fans of Prince know he really does not do to many interviews so it was great to see and hear the Purple One be a guest on Hall’s program and answer questions. He even answered questions from the audience.
The song “Munity” is pure FUNK!! Real music. The way music was back in the day. A song that makes you want to dance. A great tune. Classic Prince for sure. Young artist need to learn from a artist like Prince. He is a GREAT artist and a GREAT entertainer!! The one and only…Prince!
I watched Tamar and Vincent new reality show tonight and I just have to finally say what others ain’t saying. And that is Tamar Braxton is a golddigger and is using the HELL out of her husband Vincent. Dude needs to wake up and smell the coffee.
Tamar is a female that has “tried” to blow up in the music game like big sis Toni but the fact of the matter is she is NOT as talented as Toni. She has rode the freakin coattails of Toni for years. Not only that she is jealous of Toni. Tamar wants to be Toni Braxton but she is not Toni. She is Tamar. She needs to look in the mirror and realize that.
I watched her new reality show that of couse is a spinoff of her show with her sisters and heard her talking in third person, and watched her driving around in a new Rolls Royce etc. She is driving that Roll because of Vincent. What has she done to drive around Atlanta in a Rolls?
Of course Vincent is a top of line record producer and manager who is working with top of line artists like Lady GaGa and many others. Cat is no joke. But the real joke is this. Vincent needs to realize that just because Tamar might be giving him all he wants in the bedroom ain’t everything.
He want to have a family and have a baby and his lady Tamar is worried about her new cd and becoming a superstar like Toni and other acts her husband works with. If this is really going on I think it is terrible. And the female gets Vincent’s credit card and shops, shops and shops! Vincent wake up man!!!
I mean let’s face it. Tamar as well as the business he is in almost killed Vincent a few months ago. The stress almost did him in but he gets out the hospital and goes right back to his gold digging lady. Yo big Vincent….if the female really loves you, she would have your first child and make you happy.
I say this because I had the same thing happen to me of course in a much smaller way. I wanted a child and this so called lady I married named Elizebeth just wanted her green card and get her singing career going in the U.S. She is from Kenya. She did not love me AT ALL!! We talked about names for the baby folks. If it was girl we were going to name her Sasha after President Obama’s daughter but she never wanted a child. She just wanted her green card. She NEVER loved me at all!!
Readers I hope big Vincent will wake up and leave Tamar and realize that she does not love him. She is just worried about her singing career and going shopping and trying to be a superstar like her sister Toni. But guess what readers? IT AIN’T GOING TO HAPPEN!!! So I guess Vincent needs to wake up and Tamar too.
I was really not shocked when I saw this story regarding Mitt Romney. The story says Romney has ZERO support from African American voters according to a new poll by NBC/Wall Street Journal. Again I was really not shocked.
Republicans have a LONG history of little outreach to the African American community. It is like they do not care. Yes Romney made a “fake” showing at the NAACP convention a few months back and he met with a few black folks concerned with education but that has been it readers.
When Romney spoke at the NAACP event he told the crowd “I am your man to help with problems in the African American community” I almost to call 911 when he said that!! We heard cheers. But we found out later that the “cheers” came from his supporters that were planted in the crowd to cheer for him!! I am telling you the truth folks! That really happened.
Of course President Obama has a 94% ratings in the poll. That is not a shock right? And of course our First Lady Michelle Obama is VERY popular. She is just a great lady.
It is no surprise that I am a supporter of our President. And like Spike Lee told Piers Morgan the other day, I am going to do my part, little as it is to help him get re-elected in November.
It is a fact that the Republicans led by Romney are trying to STOP AFRICAN AMERICANS FROM VOTING IN KEY SWING STATES LIKE OHIO AND FLORIDA. This cannot happen!! It is a fact that the race between Romney and President Obama is a dead heat right now and the right is trying to play games with African American voters. IT HAS TO STOP AND STOP NOW readers. This cannot happen!
So Mitt Romney with ZERO support among African Americans…..not a surprise. Gordon Curvey

Seattle’s own “Music Inner City Radio” podcast on 1150am KKNW aired 6-2-2012. Hosted by Gordon Curvey and Tony O from Direct Supply Entertainment. Featuring urban music. entertainment and sports news and more including exclusive interviews. 24-7 on-demand.
I have been producing “Music Inner City TV” since Dec of 1990. And I have not seen a Northwest hip-hop artist(s) get as much publicity as Macklemore and Ryan Lewis in a long time.
I am wondering why this is going on? I am not hating on the fellas but I am a little bothered by this. They are on the cover of XXL Mag for their freshman class. Freshman or seasoned vets, why are they getting all this press?
You have artists who have served their dues in the game here in the Northwest like E-Dawg, Silver Shadow D, Mac Slug, Sonny Bonoho and others. They have not been on the cover of XXL Magazine etc or have got all the media hype as these fellas.
Others have made great music over the years in hip-hop here in the Northwest but they are not getting all this pub. I am starting to wonder what is the reason? Is there music that much better than other NW hip-hop artists? Is it Macklemore is being marketed better than others?
Or is it………….sorry to say, skin color? Some say hip-hop has no skin color but readers something is just not right here. I just do not understand why Macklemore and Ryan Lewis is getting all this publicity. They are becoming the “face of NW hip-hop” When cats think of NW hip-hop artists they will think of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.
There are cats with as much skills and more in my opinion then these guys. I am just keeping it real. And these guys have been behind the mic in the booth for years and put out good music just like Macklemore and Ryan BUT for some reason they have not “blown up” like these fellas.
Again I am not hating readers but I am just writing what others are saying in the streets and elsewhere. I hope I do not get bashed about this story but it is something that has to be brought out and talked about and discussed. I am kind of tired of seeing all this publicity on these fellas when others are trying to get there name out in the masses too. What is Macklemore doing that others are not?
Guess I will see them on 106 soon? If they are doing the right thing to market themselves…..then others need to learn what they are doing.

If you was a fan of the “Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air” you know it was a very very funny program that made Will Smith a superstar and a household name. I watch the re-runs on TV and it is still a funny program.
Smith was a big time rapper with his childhood homie Jazzy Jeff and they won Grammys for their music led by their monster hit, “Parents Just Don’t Understand”. A TV program was started just for him and it blew up and sorry to say, when that happens……the haters show up.
This time the hater was a person that was a part of the doggone program, Janet Hubert. For years she has went public putting Will Smith on blast and has even written a book of her experiences on the program. The female has a damn problem and you know what it is readers? JEAOLOUSY!!!! Pure and simple.
What Ms Hubert has failed to see FOR YEARS is that “THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR” WAS A PROGRAM MADE FOR WILL SMITH!!! He was the star. JANET HUBERT WAS NOT THE STAR! For some unknown reason she continues to blast Will in very negative ways in the public. This time calling him a “asshole”
She left the program because she wanted more money like she was the damn star of the show! Funny things is you do not hear or see other members of the cast blasting Big Willy. It is ONLY Janet.
She needs to get over her jealous feelings against Will. Smith is most likely worth $500 million, what is Janet Hubert worth? Where has her career gone? I don’t like to blast my African American brothas and sistas here on “Music Inner City News Magazine”
BUT I am just TIRED of reading articles about Janet Hubert talking negative about Will Smith!! Will Smith is a Hollywood mega-star and she is not. She should move on with her career and leave Smith alone. Gordon Curvey

If you are a music fan you have to realize that Rihanna is a very talented and beautiful young lady. She has created her own style and image unlike many other young singers.
Some think she has gone over the line in some of her actions on stage during her concerts but most do not think that way because when you go to one of her concerts one thing for sure you will be entertained.
Yes the the situation with Chris Brown was not good. It was terrible. I was in Los Angeles with Twin Tammy J for the Clive Davis Awards and Grammy Awards when the incident took place.
Everyone wondered why Brezzy(Chris Brown) came to the Davis event by himself and did not talk to anyone on the red carpet. And then everyone’s phones blew up about the problem of Rihanna getting beat up. It was CRAZY!
I just hope Rihanna finds a good man one day. But she is still young so I hope she takes her time and just concentrate on her career.
I hope she has a lot of role models she can look up to besides her parents for advice. I know she is tight with Jay Z. She has a long career ahead of her and wish her the best. Beyonce, Lady GaGa and Rihanna are three ladies who sing and entertain us too. Again, the future is BIG for Rihanna. Gordon Curvey

Since 1991 country singer Hank Williams Jr. song was at start of every “Monday Night Football” game but after his unreal statements about President Barack Obama on Fox News.
Williams went on Fox News and compered President Obama to HITLER! I just cannot believe this clown said this on national TV about our President! Totally shocked!
So ESPN pulled his theme song from MNF. I hope for good. Williams should hold a press conference as soon as possible to say he is sorry for making that stupid comment. Will he do it? We will see.
Here is a question readers. Why does racist things continue to happen to President Obama? Time and time again we read about insensitive and racist comments and statements about the President. It is just terrible!!
But President Obama is a cool dude and he just let’s it roll over his back and moves on. Bottom line is the Tea Party and the right and Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh etc are doing EVERY THING TO MAKE PRESIDENT OBAMA A ONE TERM PRESIDENT.
This is a fact. So it helps clowns like Hank Williams Jr. make crazy statements comparing President Obama to Hitler! Again I can’t believe he said that!! Gordon Curvey

I don’t care if 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson is from the East Coast. I am writing about a dude who is not just about grabbing the mic and rapping in city to city and buying big cars and more. 50 is about making money and also giving back.
He is starting a new energy drink called “Street King” and every time someone buys the new drink, it will help a poor kid have a meal in Africa and elsewhere. This is a great move by 50.
Read the article and you will learn more what he has done to give back. To many times we read about rappers like T.I. or Shyne or DMX and The Game getting in trouble.
Might of face The Game is in the news for maybe calling 50 gay in a tweet recently. And that 50 may be gay like a lot of rappers but not admitting it. Just ANOTHER beef started by The Game in his years of problems with 50. When in the hell is it going to stop?
Of course 50 made about 200 milion dollars when he sold his investment in Vitimin Water. And other business ventures has lined the pockets of 50. Plus he makes a lot of cheese making movies in Hollywood.
But this news business he is starting is great on the part of 50. Selling energy drinks and feeding children. The majority media needs to talk more about this. BUT as many of us know the majority media wants to talk negative instead of positive when it comes to hip-hop and rap artists. Sometimes they do good things! Gordon Curvey
Watch our new program “Music Inner City TV” via USTREAM TV EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT AT 11:05PM Seattle time (Pacific Time) Playing urban music videos and exclusive interviews and public service announcements and talking urban sports.

I hope you readers read the above article about why African American businesses or do not do well compared to white, Asian, Hispanics and now East African owned businesses.
There is a reason for this folks. As a black owned business here in Seattle for more than twenty years, sorry to say my worst “enemies” have been black folks. No support from local promoters, no support from hip-hop/r&b artists, and no support from black owned businesses. BUT these same folks will in a hurry take their cash to the “majority” owned businesses.
“Music Inner City News Magazine” is in the TOP 500,000 IN THE WORLD in website traffic and getting better everyday. Keep in mind there are at least 20 to 30 million registered websites in the world. Plus we are in the top 100,000 in the U.S. These stats are from www.alexa.com (type in sportsinnercity.com in the search area)
And “Music Inner City TV” is getting PLENTY of traffic everyday. And we are the ONLY locally produced urban program on Comcast/Xfinity On Demand here in Washington state. But black folks here will give me EVERY EXCUSE under the sun NOT to advertise with us. Then if I say something about this issue I am “whining”. This is crazy!!
As one of the articles I saw this morning said on this topic said “It seems a lot of black people are racist towards each other MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY as well as FINANCIALLY”
And “When black folks work on the racism towards black owned businesses it is then we will see black businesses prosper”
Also readers, Hispanics-advertise, Chinese/Asians-advertise, East Africans-advertise BUT as a whole blacks do not. Want a example? Go pick up a black owned newspaper and then go pick a Asian or Hispanic owned newspaper OR watch a Asian or Hispanic owned TV show or network. Then watch my TV show “Music Inner City” here in Seattle or online right here. This will make my point.
Sorry to say but Koreans are making MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of dollars selling black hair products. I can park my car in front of a Korean supply store and will see black female after black female going inside to spend cash. EVERYDAY the Koreans here in Seattle and else where are laughing all the way to the bank!
I don’t care how they obtained loans to open up new businesses! We as black folks do not have a problem getting a new SUV or Caddie or Lexus but what about opening a new business like the Koreans and other Asians, the Hispanics and now the East Africans are doing?
President Obama and others talk to us about going our own businesses. BUT the problem is, when black folks open new businesses, black folks need to support them. I will be back with Part 2 on this topic in a few days. Gordon Curvey

We have seen young Diggy Simmons grow up from a little kid to a young man because of watching him on TV for years on “Run’s House”
Of course his father is the legendary Rev. Run of the group Run D.M.C. Rev. Run has done a great job in bringing up his kids. A great job. Some think Rev. Run’s kids are spoiled brats. I do not think that at all.
It seems to me Rev. Run made his kids get a good education in school and has brought up his kids to want to work hard when they get older. Diggy Simmons has grown up and has worked hard to make a name for himself in hip-hop.
Yes for sure doors was opened up for Diggy because of who his daddy is but truth be told young Diggy Simmons has skills. Real talk. He really does.
Here is a question. If you watched “Run’s House” you will know that Diggy Simmons big brother JoJo is also a rapper but we have not heard from JoJo regarding his music. Maybe we will one day. In the meantime, shout out to Diggy Simmons and we will be playing his videos soon on Seattle’s own “Music Inner City TV” Gordon Curvey

Readers I want to say something about Beyonce. She is one of the top entertainers of all times. She is a triple threat in the entertainment business.
She can sing, she can dance and she can act. Not only that she writes songs. I think a lot of us take her for granted. But folks Beyonce is just great. Pure and simple.
If you watched her perform at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards the other day you realize how great Beyonce is as a performer. Her performance was off the chain. Just great.
She is just 29 years old readers so she has a long career still ahead of her. I think one year she will when a Oscar for acting. Maybe a Tony Awards for acting on Broadway too. Maybe a Emmy Award too. She is that talented as a performer.
It is kind of sad watching former Destiny Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Because no matter how they try, they cannot land a big song on the charts. Former guest on Seattle’s “Music Inner City TV” LaToya Luckett is not doing that bad but of course they are nowhere near the great Beyonce. No female singer is at this time.
A big shout out to to the great Beyonce. When I first met Destiny’s Child in L.A. in 1992, I never would have never guessed the group would blow up as big as it did and for Beyonce to be a great superstar that she is today. Gordon Curvey
Hey people, this killing is terrible. And it really upsets me as a cat in the music business. M-Bone of the group Cali Swag District was killed in a drive by shooting in Inglewood, Ca. He was only 22.
The group was known for the monster hit “Teach Me How To Dougie” last year. The song blew up all over the world and put the young group on the hip-hop map.
The problem right now is the killers of M-Bone is still on the run and have not been caught.
Why did M-Bone have to die so damn young? When will the violence stop? TO MANY YOUNG PEOPLE ARE DYING IN THE STREETS!! The violence has to stop!!
I bet you M-Bone died over some small issue. Maybe someone was jealous of the group or M-Bone, maybe it was about money or a female. All I know this young fella is dead and dead to young. Our prayers go out to the family of M-Bone from “Music Inner City” Gordon Curvey
“Music Inner City” Video Podcast/5-18-2011/Entertainment news/politics/music videos and more.
It seems there has been a lot of rumors lately about entertainers being gay or lesbian in the news or the internet but are they true or do you care?
There are rumors about former guest on “Music Inner City TV” media icon Oprah being in a relationship with her friend Gayle King. These rumors are nothing new.
How bout Soulja Boy being gay? Or does Mariah Carey go both ways or other rumors that is out there in rumor land.
Now there is rumors on r&b star Trey Songz being gay and now a new one. Is rapper Drake gay and not only that is he in a relationship with Songz?
These rumors are off the hook! Here is the question readers. Do you think Drake and Trey Songz are in a relationship. And also do you care?
I don’t care about if they are. Their love life is there love life. I don’t give a damn. All I care about is if Songz and Drake is making good music. That’s all I care about. But there would not be a TMZ or other programs is it was not for these rumors and stuff right? Gordon Curvey

Urban sports news and issues plus classic soul, new and recent music and exclusive interviews.
This year I was posted up in snowy and cold Seattle to watch the 2010 American Music Awards. I have been lucky enough to cover the AMA’s only once. Why I do not understand but anyway I always give my opinions of the “urban” acts of the show right here.
The show started with a great with a performance by Rihanna. She looked a little nervous. Her dancing skills need to improve a little but the female can sing so she make up for the lack of dancing skills.
I enjoyed the song by rocker Kid Rock as well as the performance by Enrique Iglesias and Pitball. I really liked the performance.
I also enjoyed the performance by Ne-Yo. It was one of the best of the night. Also young Justin Bieber performance was real good with the gospal group in the background. He got a standing ovation. Bieber also won four awards.
Usher performance was great too. Full of energy and great dancing. The show ended with a performance by The Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block together. It was a great ending of the show. Shout out to the AMA’s for putting on a energetic and exciting show year after year. Gordon Curvey

I am so glad that singer El DeBarge is back singing and recording new songs. I have always enjoyed his music and his family DeBarge.
El had and has his own style. When you turn on the radio and hear his voice you know it is El DeBarge. As cut throat as the music industry is, it is great to have your own style and have a unique voice.
Good to see that he has saw the light and hopefully kicked his drug habit to the curb and I hope it stays there so he can provide us with more great El DeBarge music.
Being on drugs can destroy a person and a lot of folks just cannot stop taking drugs. But at 49, El said enough and enough and wants younger artists to look at him as a cat who kicked the habit and is now going back in the studio and performing on stage for his fans.
He knows god gave him a talent. He wants to show his talents again. Good luck to El DeBarge and we look forward to more good music. Gordon Curvey
Rapper T.I. was arrested along with his wife Tiny for suspicion of possessing marijuana in West Hollywood, California.
Officers pulled the car over T.I. and his wife were in and smelled bud and they were arrested. They posted a $10,000 bail and was released.
When I first saw this information on T.I. I said…..WHAT THE HELL!!!! Of course you are innocent until proven guilty but I thought T.I. was going to do his best to stay out of trouble after a serving time in jail for weapons possession charges. I guess I was wrong.
After T.I. was released from prison he went on a big tour of schools and community centers to speak with kids about staying in school and getting a good education and staying out of trouble etc. And now this. I am VERY disappointed in T.I. if these charges are true.
T.I. should remember he was given another change to be a role model kids can look up too. A chance to be a leader in the hip-hop game and out of it too. Guess he did not want to be a role model folks. Guess he was fooling us.
Readers what guys like T.I. and folks in the public eye (even myself) need to realize is that we are people young folks look at to be leaders and role models. We do not need to be hanging out at clubs until 2am or we do not need to be beating up people or even our ladies or girlfriends or vise versa.
If these charges against T.I. and even Tiny are true I will be VERY disappointed. Remember Tiny, the wife of T.I., is a former member of the singing group Xscape and a star of a reality show. So young ladies look up to her too.
I will be giving you more details on the arrest of T.I. and Tiny right here on the #1 urban website in the Northwest…..”Music Inner City News Magazine” This is “One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

Today marked the one year anniversary of the passing of the “King Of Pop” MJ, Micheal Jackson. It was a very sad day last year when I learned of the death of MJ.
I was cleaning up my place and passed by the TV and saw the headlines on CNN and I could not believe it. Micheal Jackson has died at the age of 50. I was shocked. And truth be told I am still shocked.
Word is out MJ’s daddy Joe is going to file a wrongful death lawsuit against MJ’s doctor Conrad Murrey for the death of his famous son. I don’t blame Joe for keeping up the fight.
The truth needs to come out about the death of Jackson.
No one will EVER touch MJ as a entertainer. NO ONE!! He is and will always be the “King Of Pop”

Do you think ALL the members of Destiny’s Child will get together for one last time for a new cd or tour of the U.S and elsewhere? Well it could happen .
That means Michelle, Beyonce, Kelly, Farrah and former guest on Seattle’s own “Music Inner City TV” Letoya Luckett.
Man that would be off the hook and for sure money maker for the group and for Columbia Records and for the music industry as a whole.
I have not heard to much from Farrah. Kelly has put out a few cd’s but truth be told, they did not sell well and Michelle has done well putting out gospel cd’s and Beyonce…………well we all know she has done very very very well in movies, singing etc. She is a triple threat in the entertainment business.
So in reality Beyonce has to lower her ego for the benefit of her child hood friends to be reunited and form Destiny’s Child again.
So let’s see what happens readers and see if Destiny’s Child will get together again. This time with Farrah and Letoya. Stay tuned and we will have all the news right here on “Music Inner City News Magazine”

I do not think my home town of Seattle, Washington get enough ink in the media and over the air regarding all the talent from here doing well in the NBA.
S.I. did a great story on all the player from Seattle and surburbs who are in the NBA a few months ago.
That article I am sure made more sports fans aware of the basketball talent coming from the city of Seattle.
Having said that, a big shout out to the Atlanta Hawks Jamal Crawford who won the NBA “Sixth Man” award and to the Houston Rockets Aaron Brooks who won “Most Improved” for thr 2009-10 season.
Crawford went to Rainier Beach High and Brooks went to Franklin High. The schools are rivals here in Seattle and Jason Terry of the Mavericks also went to Franklin. Rap/Hip-Hop legend Guru has passed away from cancer at 43. Guru was a guest on Seattle’s Music Inner City three times over the years.
A friend of mine, Walt Atkinson was one of his favorite fans. And he was one of my favorite artists too. Guru and DJ Premier formed a dynamic duo in the rap/hip-hop world.
They formed the group Gangstarr and put down many hits over the years in their own great way. They had their own style. When you turned on the radio you knew who they were right away if you knew about urban music.
A lot of young artists need to study video of Guru and Gangstarr. They were vets who knew how to entertain a crowd unlike many artists of today.
Every time I interviewed Guru it was a great interview. Sorry to say I lost my interviews with Guru in my terrible fire I had a few years ago. But I have the memories of myself kickin it with a true legend….Guru.
Hey Guru, thanks for all the great music you left us and thanks for all the interviews you did with M.I.C-TV. R.I.P bro.
Will be playing videos of Guru in the next M.I.C-TV/Radio.

I am happy as hell that NFL player Chad Ochocinco has fired back at ESPN Radio host Colin Cowherd about Colin’s constant blasting of him on his radio show.
Cowherd seems to think he is a Mr. Know It All when it comes to sports and even life. He comes off as a tremendously arrogant fella who speaks out on folks at will on his program and seems to think guys like Chad will not retaliate. Chad has.
People don’t understand Ochocinco. He is a young fella having fun. He likes to use the technology available like computers etc. He uses Ustream.tv and does his Ustream show when he is on the road via his iphone etc.
He is having fun. I rather have Chad around to read about than baseball players who have personalities of a rock outside on the street. That is way you don’t see any baseball players besides Derek Jeter doing commercials on TV. But you see Chad, Barkley, D-Wade, Dwight Howard, Manning and others with personalities.
Colin does not say you don’t read about Chad doing drugs, clubbing at a nightclub at 2am, beating up his wife atc. He is at home on the computer etc having fun. Now during the off-season he is going to be in “Dancing With The Stars”
I am tired of clowns like Cowherd and even this other motor mouth “JT-The Brick” on Fox Sports Radio who also likes to blast Ochocinco at will in negative ways. Calling him negative names over the air. J.T. and Colin are two peas on a pod. Two motor mouth so called talk show hosts who like to talk about African Americans in negative ways all the time over the air.
J.T. was just on the air giving his opinion as to why African Americans kids are not playing baseball. He does not know what the hell he is talking about unless you walk in our shoes!!!
This just shows once again, about sports radio. Their is a MAJOR PROBLEM in AM sports radio in Seattle and the U.S. The problem is a lack of African Americans in sports radio. It is dominated by white men who know NOTHING about the African American culture or lifestyle. Nothing.
In Seattle, sports radio KJR and 710ESPN have a grand total of ZERO African Americans with his or hers own program. THIS IS A PROBLEM WHEN AFRICAN AMERICANS DOMINATE THE MAJOR SPORTS IN THE U.S.
Thank god for Stephen A. Smith and Mike Wilborn and the “Two Live Stews” and a few others in sports radio. We need more. At KJR and 710ESPN here in Seattle their is no African Americans as producers, in sales, in management and of course over the air.
This is why I have started “Sports Inner City Online”. A site that has the African American point of view when it comes to sports.
“Sports Inner City Online” is one of only a few urban sports websites on the Internet. PLEASE spread the word about our site. Please send us a e-mail at email@example.com and tell us how we can improve the site. It is at www.sportsinnercity.com
Singer Chris Brown is doing something he thought he would never do. And that is to ask for his fans support in buying his new cd and is also asking radio to play his music.
Ever since his problem of beating of singer Rihanna, he has had problems with his career.
It is for sure not like it was before the problems came down on him.
But in reality Brown cannot blame anyone but himself for his problems. He brought them on himself. He should have did what he did to the beautiful Rihanna.
Having said that, the question is this. Is it time for fans to forgive Brown and buy his music? Is it time for radio to start playing his music again? Truth be told I do not even hear any past Chris Brown music on the radio like “Kiss-Kiss-Kiss” and others. Do you?
Brown is doing every thing courts have asked him to do and more. He is even going to schools and community centers to talk to talk to youth etc.
What will it take for radio and fans to support Chris Brown like before the Rihanna incident? It does not help when programs on TV like “The Insider” and “Showbiz Tonight” continue to blast Brown when ever they can.
This story is very very interesting. Let’ see if the negative treatment of Chris Brown will continue. For his sake and career, I hope the negativity stops.

This past Friday and Saturday rap legend Snoop Dogg was in the Seatown to perform at the Showbox Sodo. And I want to tell you my feelings as a vet in this music game.
First of all I tried like hell to obtain a one on one interview with Snoop via the phone or in person but again got nothing as far as a interview. The only time I have interviewed Snoop was at the B.E.T. Awards in L.A. a few years ago for a minute.
I will keep trying and maybe the Dogg will finally do a interview with us at Music Inner City TV and Music Inner City News Magazine. I have enough videos by Snoop to do a great program. A “Snoop Dogg Special”
Anyway, the Friday show was sold out. I was told by Snoop’s manangement that I was allowed to cover the Saturday show to write about it here at M.I.C News Magazine.
I got to the venue around 10:45pm because I was told Snoop would hit the stage around 11pm. But I know the game folks. If I was told 11pm, that meant midnight. I was right. The crowd waited for more than a hour before Snoop finally hit the stage. He hit the stage about 12:10am But before that, the crowd started to boo. Then the lights finally went down and the show started.
Snoop’s set started with a short film with Snoop from one of his movies etc. That lasted about a minute or so and then Snoop pimped on stage. The crowd went CRAZY!
By the way, there was people of all races and ages at the show. Even little kids, which I did not understand with all the language being used by Snoop. There was people from 12 to 60 in the crowd.
Snoop started to perform all of his hits from “What’s My Name” from earlier in his career to his recent hits “I Wanna Rock” and “Gangsta Luv” The crowd was jumping and dancing to all of his hits.
One thing for sure, their was plenty of folks in the crowd taping some of the show on their cell phones so most likley you can go to You Tube and see videos from the Seattle show. I was not one of them doing that.
Since I was told no for a interview with Snoop, I went to the show to watch it and review it for the thousands of you who visit our site. I knew I was going to watch a vet at work and that is what I saw.
Snoop along with a few of his homies like Daz and Kurupt put on a show done by vets in the rap game. The same thing happened when I went to shows by Ice Cube and DJ Quik. All three of them can perform hit after hit for their fans unlike young performers who have only a few hits in their bag.
I think everyone left the Showbox satisfied. It was a good performance by a cat who knows what he is doing on stage to satisfy his fans. A big shout out to big Snoop Dogg for his longevity in the music industry. Keep doing what ya doing SD!!

Well former B.E.T owner Bob Johnson finally got tired of owning a basketball team and sold it MJ. The person some people say was the greatest basketball player of all time. I say Magic Johnson though.
Jordan has a very very hard job ahead of him. Will he want to keep Hall of Fame member Larry Brown next season as the head coach? This will be interesting because truth be told the Bobcats have improved this year under Coach Brown.
They have a few pieces in place to have a good team with some added additions. They Have Gerald Wallace and Stephen Jackson on the team. The question is this how will MJ be as a owner?
Because MJ might have been a great great player but so far as a GM in Washington and with Bobcats in another position, he has not done a good job. Let’s just tell the truth folks. (yours truly Gordon C. with MJ pic to the right)
One thing for sure it is great that MJ is involved in the NBA in anyway because he is a basketball icon. A sports icon. A flat out legend. I know David Stern is happy to have him around too.
Will he be a owner like Mark Cuban of the Mavericks? Who is at EVERY game sitting right behind the bench of his team? Who knows we will see.
Everyone will be watching Jordan to see what he can do to make the Bobcats a team that can make the playoffs in the future and draw some fans to the arena because when you see a Bobcat game on TV, you will notice a whole lot of empty seats.
So let’s see what the REAL KING (not James) can do as the new owner of the Bobcats in Charlotte.
