Let me make this clear Charles Barkley is a clown. Like a clown in the circus. As a basketball junky and a NBA junky, I am a huge fan of Charles Barkley as one of the best players in the history of the NBA. At 6-5 he did things on the court no other player has done.
Barkley had many games with 32 points and 22 rebounds or 25 points 25 rebounds. He was a great player. There has not been a player of his size to do what Barkley did during his career. And of course he has made a name for himself on TNT with Kenny “The Jet” Smith and Ernie Johnson and for the last few years big Shaq..Shaquille O’Neal.
But to me and many many others, Charles Barkley is a clown. First of all Barkley butchers the english language. Every show on TNT the clown show starts when ever he opens his big mouth. He says things that is so off the freakin wall it is pathetic! Charles Barkley is allowed to say things over the air because he makes a lot of white folks happy because he says things to make them happy.
Barkley has lost track of reality. He is a multi millionaire that stays in a huge house in Phoenix and not only that I wonder when was the last time he went into the inner city and talked to kids and hang out. I wonder when was the last time he went to a African American church? Charles Barkley is from a hick town in Alabama and grew up very very poor.
Then he becomes a NBA superstar and makes millions and what does he do? He marries a white lady. He forgets about for which he came from. A town called Leeds, Alabama. He does what a lot a black men do. Get rich and turns to a white lady instead of a African American female.
Now Barkley has the nerve to comment on the Micheal Brown killing in Ferguson and other issues that deal with black people. He calls people “scumbags” and agrees with the decision allowing Darren Wilson to walk free for killing a unarmed young black kid. I dare Barkley to agree with the decision!! He is a fool and a buffoon and is a joke to most African Americans. He is not a joke to me. He is a embarrassment to my race.
Emmit Smith, Shannon Sharpe, Micheal Irvin, Warren Sapp and yes Barkley and others are not good broadcasters in my opinion but Barkley is the worst! For some reason he has won a Emmy for being a good host on “Inside The NBA”. Why I would like to know!! He acts like he speaks for the African American community when he makes these stupid comments on issues outside of basketball.
CHARLES BARKLEY DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ME AND THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY. Just like Rev Al Sharpton does not speak for me. No black so called “leader” speaks for me. I speak for myself.
I think Charles Barkley should join the Ringling Bros Circus as a clown. Because that is what he is to most black folks.
If you are a huge basketball fan like me then you would know about the “history” of Jason Kidd. Kidd is a Oakland, California legend just like Hall Of Famer and Seattle Sonics legend “The Glove” Gary Payton.
He had a 19 year NBA career in the NBA. And he will be a first ballot Hall Of Fame member in four years. Now let’s get to the point. How in the HELL did Jason Kidd mover from a player to a head coach in the NBA in one year? Someone please explain this to me. Because I just do not understand why he becomes a head coach before guys like Patrick Ewing and others.
Kidd has not been a angel readers. Back in the day their was a big rumor concerning Kidd and ex NBA player Jim Jackson and singer Toni Braxton and it was all in the tabloids. The story was both of them was…….well you know with Toni. Then their was a rumor he hit his ex wife and recently he was caught drinking and driving. And other things on the negative side with it comes to Jason Kidd.
Now Kidd it seems tried to pull a power move with the Brooklyn Nets. He was the head coach of the Nets and it is reported Kidd wanted more money from the Nets after seeing Derek Fisher and Steve Kerr getting way more money for a first year coach. And he also wanted more power in player moves for the Nets and word is he did not see eye to eye with Net general manager Billy King.
So now for some reason he is the head coach of the Bucks and head coach Larry Drew was fired after one year. Kidd is good friends with the new owner of the Bucks. Why does Kidd go from one head coaching position to another? HOW CAN THIS HAPPEN? Why Jason Kidd? I just do not understand. Hearing all this negative crap on Kidd makes me want to see him fail as a head coach. I just do not like this power move by Kidd.

I saw this happening folks. I look at our Seattle Mariners and I no why a task force is being started by MLB head Bud Selig concerning the alarming decline of African Americans playing Major League Baseball. Our Mariners have zero African Americans on the team this year. This is sad readers.
Currently 7.7% of players in MLB are African American. Why is this alarming to Mr.Selig and many others? Well look at the NBA and NFL. Enough said. MLB has done a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE job in marketing to the African American community. They have started the RBI League to “try” to reach young inner city kids but that is token and it is not working.
Young African American kids are turning to football and basketball when they turn 11 or 12 years old and can care less about playing baseball. When a African American kid turns on the TV they see LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Shaq, Kevin Durant, Kereem, Magic, Kobe, the Manning Brothers, Drew Brees, Chris Paul, Charles Barkley and more. The only MLB players you see are Ryan Howard for Subway and that’s about it. Locally we see former player Jay Buhner doing commercials for goodness sake!! Yes Jay Buhner folks.
Young inner city kids need to see more African American baseball players doing marketing like CeCe Sabathia, Matt Kemp, Adam Jones, Torii Hunter and the Upton Brothers etc. When they see these players they might say “I want to play baseball like Matt Kemp”
As I type this blog, the Mariners are playing the Houston Astros here in Safeco Field. Readers I am searching to see ONE black face in the crowd. The three games so far at Safeco I turn on the TV and cannot find ONE African American in the crowd. Something is very very wrong on the field and off when it comes to African Americans and Major League Baseball.
So Commissioner Selig is starting this task force to see what in the world is going on when it comes to the huge decline of African Americans playing Major League Baseball. I am glad to see Hall of Fame member Frank Robinson on the task force. As a sports fan it hurts to see the Seattle Mariners with a all white team along with players from South America etc. This week the Texas Rangers will hit Seattle with another team that has zero African Americans on the team. A African American manager but no African American players. WHAT? Their will be two teams on the field with ZERO African Americans on the field and in the dugout. Something is wrong.
This week a new movie on the late great Jackie Robinson hits the theaters. And on the 15th it is Jackie Robinson Day in MLB. I will be writing another story on my views of MLB and celebrating Jackie Robinson Day right here in the next few days. Comments? email@example.com Gordon Curvey

Well the Los Angeles Lakers are going to have another great center to roam the middle in Dwight Howard. He will follow Wilt, Shag, Miken and Kareem. It is amazing that the Lakers always obtain great centers to play for them. How does this happen? It is crazy. But anyway it has happned. Dwight Howard will be playing for the Lakers. Wow!
Howard will join two of the greatest players of all time on the Lakers, Steve Nash and of course Kobe. Yes Nash is 38 and Kobe is 34. But Nash can still play at his age as long as the Lakers control his minutes and the same for Kobe. Dwight also joins Pau Gasol and Ron Artest to make a dynamite starting line up that will be very hard to beat. PLUS the Lakers signed Antwon Jamiason during the off-season. A proven vet who can get 20 at any time.
If you are a NBA fan you have to be excited to see this trade happen. I have a friend who says I am a NBA fan instead of a writer. I have to admit now that yes I am a fan. I love basketball. It is my favorite sport BY FAR. I can watch a NBA game, college game, high school game etc. I love the game of basketball.
Dwight Howard just had a back operation and may not start the season but that is O.K. He is a Laker and will play. Howard has personality, a smile and is a killer on the court. he will shut down the middle big time for the Lakers. He blocks more shots than any player in the NBA. The only problem I have is this readers and it could be a big problem.
Age may come into play with the Lakers. Kobe is 34. Nash is 38, Gasol is 31 and Artest is 33. Head coach Brown will have to do a great job in trying to manage minutes for his older players. This a fact. But all one is for sure. Howard, Kobe, Gasol, Nash and Artest keep in great shape so let’s see what happens next season when it comes to minutes.
I am listening to L.A. sports radio and the fans and media are excited. Man cannot wait to see the games between the Lakers and the improved L.A. Clippers next season. And also when the Lakers meet the champs….Miami Heat and other games. It will be off the hook.
Since our beloved Seattle Sonics left town in 2008, I have followed the L.A. Lakers. This goes back to when I was young. The Lakers and the Sonics were my favorite teams. Thank god for NBA-TV. Counting down the days until the start of training camps and the start of the NBA season. Gordon Curvey
New “Sports Inner City Radio” podcast coming at ya a little later on Sunday. Urban sports news and issues PLUS classic soul and smooth jazz music and sports interviews. A one of a kind broadcast from the Northwest.
Last night after downing some more Thanksgiving food in my tummy, I flipped on to NBA-TV for the latest news on the NBA lockout. Because I knew the players and owners were meeting in New York.
And BAM! Breaking news! A tentative settlement has been reached between the players and owners. As a basketball junky I am happy as hell that the sport I love is coming back. The NBA is the #1 sport for me as a sports fan followed by football and baseball.
When the NBA season ends I get depressed as a sports fan. Real talk. And of course being here in Seattle, our Sonics left town for the one horse dust town Oklahoma City so I have to follow the many players from the Seattle area playing in the NBA like Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, Jason Terry, Brandon Roy, Spencer Hawes and many more.
If every thing goes right, training camp and free agent movement will start December 9th and the NBA season will FINALLY start on Xmas Day with a great triple header. The Knicks vs. Celtics, Lakers vs Bulls and a NBA finals matchup with the champ Mavs vs Heat.
Here is the thing readers. Why in the HELL did it take the owners and players this long to work this out? I just do not understand it. They had been having meetings for two years. Crazy folks.
But anyway I am just glad the NBA is back and I can sit in front of my big screen and enjoy the best atheletes in the world. Yes it is just a 66 game season. But guess what? A 66 game season is better than no season.

I was thinking positive regarding today would be a good day as far as ending the NBA lockout but I was wrong big time because the NBA players rejected the owners deal.
The owners led by David Stern had a deal on the table that would have started the season on December 15th and the season would be a 72 game season instead of 82. But that ain’t going to happen.
The way it looks now readers NBA fans will have to look at old games from the 70′s and 80′s and 90′s on NBA-TV instead of watching KD, KG and Kobe. This is truly truly sad.
I am on the players side big time. The players make the NBA so the owners can bank BIG dollars. Fans pack NBA arenas to see D-Wade, LeBron, Dirk, Seattle’s own Jamal Crawford and Jason Terry and others play but it looks like we will not watch NBA games for awhile.
If you listened to Stern today, the owners will not back down and he blasted Billy Hunter who works for the players. He sounded very arrount and uppity. Like what Bryant Gumbel and another person said about Stern that he acts like a “platation owner and the players are his slaves” This is outrage!! Remember the NBA players are majority African American or a person of color and the owners are 99% white. Micheal Jordan is the only black owner.
Being in Seattle, I cannot watch live NBA basketball anymore so I hav to watch on TV or go to Portland or watch a game their games are always sold out. I have to watch the games on NBA-TV or TNT or ESPN. I just want to see the season start. That’s all I want as a sports fan. Gordon Curvey
Veteran broadcaster Bryant Gumbel is fed up with the actions of NBA Commissioner David Stern because of his actions or words in the on going labor talks between the players and the owners over this NBA lockout.
Gumbel had some stong words for Stern. Please read the article in the link above. Bryant basically called Stern a slave master and the NBA players are their slaves. And because of this we may not have a NBA season. Which will be TERRIBLE.
Bryant as a sports fan is pissed and so am I readers. If you check out Stern he can come off as arrogant and uppity. Like “I am Dave Stern and who are you?” Meanwhile days are passing by and we the fans of the NBA have already had two weeks of the season canceled. This is just not good.
Bryant should also put Micheal Jordan on blast for not being in the meetings. MJ in my opinion should get his ass off the golf course walking around with a big cigar and help the players!! You see MJ was a all time great and is now a owner. No one in the meetings can say that. He can come from both angles. MJ should be in the meetings.
And so should Kobe Bryant, KG, LeBron, Melo, Amerie, Dirk, Jason Terry and other vets of the NBA. Get in the meetings and help Derek Fisher to hammer out a deal so we the fans can enjoy the NBA. We will keep in up to date with the NBA lockout right here. Gordon Curvey

For all you LeBron haters out their I feel sorry for you. Because his Miami Heat are in the NBA Finals going up against Big Dirk, Seattle’s own Jason Terry and the Dallas Mavericks.
This is what James wanted when he joined forces with D-Wade and Chis Bosh on the Heat. A chance to win a lot of NBA titles. Well in year one of the Big Three they will get their chance.
It is time to face reality. LeBron James is a GREAT player. At 25 he still can get better and better. Can you imagine that sports fans? James getting better? It is going to happen.
Cleveland Cavs fans have to feel terrible to see James in the finals. I know sports radio in Cleveland is buzzing with James haters. You that is the case.
Anyway it will be a real interesting NBA Finals. Who on the Heat will watch Big Dirk? This cat is on FIRE!! He is a 7 footer with a fall away jumper and other types of shots. Do not be surprised to see James watching him.
LeBron can play all five positions on the court. No other NBA player can do that. He is just a great player so all the haters against him need to stop and realize how great of a player he is.
Of course I want to see Seattle native Jason Terry win a ring. So I hope the Dallas Mavs win the NBA title. It will be a great series. Gordon Curvey.

I have give credit where credit is due. Seattle sports writer Steve Kelly wrote a good story in the Seattle Times (click the link to read) about how basketball helped him and how he realizes how basketball brings black faces and white faces together.
And it is true. No other major sport has the personalities basketball has so in my opinion and Kelly’s it brings us more together as a people.
For instance I went to a game right before the NBA season started at Seattle’s Garfield High School put on by Seattle native and Portland guard Brandon Roy. At the game you saw Asians, East Africans, African Americans and whites in the audience having a good time watching the game of basketball.
I am sorry to say, when you go to a major league baseball game at Safeco Field here in town, the only people of color you see are the ushers and the ones on the teams. It is a little better at NFL games but not much.
But if you look at the audience at a NBA game it is a rainbow of colors. Just like it is in America. It is that way at a high school game, college game and of course the NBA.
Kelly’s article was a great article. I just wish Steve Kelly would be bold enough to write a story in the Seattle Times regarding the radio station he has a show on every week. Sports radio KJR which does the COMPLETE OPPISITE of what his article is about.
The station has ZERO diversity. NONE. In sales, producers, on the air and in management. This does not reflect the fields and courts of America. In my opinion, yes basketball knows about the word DIVERSITY. It helps to bring people together. But Steve a sports radio station which you work for, does not know about the work DIVERSITY nor do they care. Gordon Curvey
It is the Steelers vs. the Packers in the Super Bowl. I wanted the Jets and Green Bay but it was not meant to be. But it will be a good Super Bowl. To read more on the upcoming Super Bowl and more Click here. Story via sports.yahoo.com
I love watching football and really only watch baseball when it is World Series time (want Ron Washington and the Rangers to win the Series) but I am a basketball junkie. So I am happy as hell the NBA season is opening on Tuesday.
Of course our team here in Seattle, the Sonics left our city a few years ago to a dust town in Oklahoma City!! A team that was here for FOURTY ONE YEARS and brought our city the only true pro championship in 1979.
I will NEVER get over Clay Bennett moving our team and I will NEVER forget Starbucks founder and former Sonic majority owner Howard Schultz selling the team to Bennett.
So I have to follow the many Seattle natives in the NBA like Jamal Crawford, Jason Terry, Nate Robinson, Rodney Stuckey, Terrence Williams, Spencer Hawes and others and just enjoy the NBA from distance.
With the season starting this Tuesday, there is a potential problem with a new rule that lets the refs call a tech on a player who gets called for a foul and just brings his hands up or shows just a little disgust it seems.
I have seen calls in pre-season that made me say…….what? So you know the players will not like this new rule. Some fans will like the new rule because they are tired of players “whining” when a foul is called on them. But I think this new rule is going to be a big big problem.
But anyway bring on the NBA season!!! Gordon Curvey
The other day I was in basketball heaven as a basketball junky as I watched the Hall Of Fame event on NBA TV. It was a GREAT event to watch.
Among the folks going in this year was the “The Dream Team” of the 1992 Olympics that included Karl Malone, Magic Johnson, Micheal Jordan, Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippin, Charles Barkley and others. And the 1960 Olympic team that included the great Jerry West and “The Big O” Oscar Roberson.
Going in as players included Malone and Pippin and WNBA legend Cynthia Cooper, and former Seattle Sonic, the late Dennis “DJ” Johnson. Johnson was represented by his brother and wife.
Johnson was a starting guard for our Sonics win they won the NBA title in 1979. Also going in as a player was the late Gus Johnson.
I think Cynthia Cooper gave the best speech. Followed by Karl Malone. Bob Hurley Sr. has had a good speech.
At least 70 Hall of Famers showed up for the ceremony in Springfield, Ilinois. It was a great seeing all the great NBA players being interviewed and watching tape of great plays made by this years group of Hall Of Famers.
Like I said, I was in basketball heaven. Gordon Curvey
Well we all know now where LeBron James is going to play and that is with the Miami Heat with Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.
In my opinion I am pissed at James. Why? Because #1 he is arrogant. During his stupid hour long show on ESPN he talked in third person. #2 He flat out let the fans down in Cleveland. If I was in Cleveland or his hometown Akron, I would feel tremendously upset at self titled “King James”. “King James” a cat who has ZERO RINGS!!!! LET ME REPEAT ZERO RINGS!!!!! “King James” my a..!!!!!!
Having a team of Bosh, James and Wade is a cop out. And if they don’t win, I will be happy. I hope the Celtics and Orlando and the Hawks kick the Heats ass!!!
I was a BIG fan of James. But I am not anymore. He thinks he is bigger than the game. His fame has gone to his head. James going to the Heat hurts me as a NBA fan. A NBA junky. I am real bothered by this move by James as a sports fan.
I just heard Chris Brussard on ESPN say James left $20 to $30 million on the table in order to win. Yo Chris…..I DON’T CARE!!!! i HAVE LOST RESPECT FOR THE SO CALLED “King James”.
Well Cleveland fans I guess be happy you still have a NBA to cheer on even without James. Our Seattle Sonics left town after forty one years here. We don’t have a team to cheer on at all. But as the late 2Pac rapped…..Yo Cleveland sports fans KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!!!
To know one’s surprise, media icon and former guest on Seattle’s “Music Inner City TV” Oprah Winfrey tops the list of powerful celebrities replacing last years winner, Angelina Jolie according to Forbes.
Ms. O is closing down her legendary TV next year and will starting HER OWN NETWORK!! The O.W.N. She is developing news shows for network right now.
It seems everything Oprah touches turn to gold. Heck, all she has to do is pick out a new book, talk about it on her show and it a best seller.
Not only that news business owner have received the “Oprah Touch” with her discussing the new idea or product on her show and BAM!!! they sell out and their phones are ringing off the hook with sells.
Only Oprah Winfrey can do that. Of course we will keep you informed on Oprah’s news network right here on “Music Inner City News Magazine” One of only a few or maybe the ONLY local program of it’s type in the U.S. who can say we interviewed Oprah Winfrey!!!
Keep up with NBA free agent news right here on “M.I.C News Magazine” and our urban sports site “Sports Inner City Online” at www.sportsinnercity.com Covering urban sports news and issues and one of only a FEW URBAN SPORTS WEBSITES ON THE INTERNET.
Well it is getting near the time where NBA free agents like LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, Joe Johnson and others can meet with teams and their possible new NBA home. That date is July 1st.
Word is James will meet with the Knicks and Nets on the 1st of July. It is going to be a real crazy time in the NBA starting on the 1st. Real crazy.
Where will James land is the question everyone wants know. Will he stay with the Cavs? Will he sign with the Bulls or Nets or Knicks? How bout the Clippers or Heat?
Cleveland and even James hometown in Akron, are trying to show “King James” that they want him to stay in Ohio and play once again for the Cavs. The Cavs can offer James the most cash. This is for sure.
We will keep you informed here on “Music Inner City News Magazine” and “Sports Inner City Online” (www.sportsinnercity.com) on the movements of James and other NBA free agents.

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Lakers for winning another NBA by beating the Boston Celtics in seven games at the Staples Center.
Game seven was not a well played game at all. Plenty of bricks were thrown up by both teams to make it a terrible game to watch on TV. Kobe Bryant who won the MVP, threw up the most bricks but he made up for it by hitting the boards for fifteen rebounds.
In my opinion, Kobe should not have won the MVP trophy. It should have been center Pau Gasol because he did the dirty rock in the paint every game. And he had to come up big because of Andrew Bynum being hurt.
But readers I am really happy for Ron Artest who scored twenty points in game seven. If you are a sports fan you know Ron has been though a lot during his career. We don’t want to talk about the negative stuff. We want to stay positive when it comes to Ron Artest.
A local sports host (Mike Salk-710 ESPN/Seattle) got on the air and made fun of Artest for being happy as hell after the game and called him “nutzi” What ever the HELL that means!! I was real upset for Salk and his co-host Brock Huard for making fun of Artest.
Again I am real happy for Ron Artest for getting a NBA title and at the same time I am disappointed for Seattle’s own little Nate Robinson of the Celtics for not getting to win a championship. But he is still young and hopefully it will happen for little Nate.

Man now this is a possible story readers IF it is true. Their is rumor that LeBron James mom, Gloria James had sex with Delonte West of the Cleveland Cavs. Yes James teammate on the Cavs.
And not only that King James mom might have had sex with ANOTHER member of the Cavs too and it is a prominent player on the Cavs.
IF this is true and again IF this a National Enquirer/TMZ stuff. I mean this is off the hook IF it is true because of how big James is as a national celebrity and sports star.
I will say this. I noticed the other day when the Cavs got beat down by the Celtics, I saw James walk off the court and kiss his mom. THEN I saw another Cavs player who I will not say also plant a kiss on James mom! I said what is up with that?
Hall Of Famer and one of the best little men EVER to play in the NBA, Calvin Murphy said recently every thing about Gloria James is true!!
I am very surprised that this story is not bigger than what it is truth be told. Nothing on CNN or MSNBC or Fox News or Entertainment Tonight and even ESPN. Don’t understand.
Anyway we will keep you informed on the story when more comes out right here on “M.I.C News Magazine”

I do not think my home town of Seattle, Washington get enough ink in the media and over the air regarding all the talent from here doing well in the NBA.
S.I. did a great story on all the player from Seattle and surburbs who are in the NBA a few months ago.
That article I am sure made more sports fans aware of the basketball talent coming from the city of Seattle.
Having said that, a big shout out to the Atlanta Hawks Jamal Crawford who won the NBA “Sixth Man” award and to the Houston Rockets Aaron Brooks who won “Most Improved” for thr 2009-10 season.
Crawford went to Rainier Beach High and Brooks went to Franklin High. The schools are rivals here in Seattle and Jason Terry of the Mavericks also went to Franklin. And the Celtics Nate Robinson went to Rainier Beach and Brandon Roy went to Garfield High. There are about 13 players in the NBA from Seattle area and suburbs.
We hope to do interviews many of the Seattle NBA players this summer so look out for that.
